Great job completed this evening by the team!
However it seems that very sadly, someone has been helping themselves to some of the plants we planted earlier in the year 😭 There are lots of holes where the plants have been removed and taken.. its awful, as we do this so everyone can enjoy it and nature can benefit. Neither of those things can happen if all our work is undone and stolen. Let's hope this doesn't continue 🙏

MEADOWS DAY
SATURDAY 27TH JUNE, 11 - 5PM

97% of Britain's wildflower meadows have been destroyed since WW2.
Pensychnant has created three new ones.
This day will be a blatant celebration of Pensychnant's meadows, with instructive guided walks in the morning and afternoon on the creation and traditional management of meadows, plant identification, and invertebrate sampling; moths, children's activities and crafts.
This will be a great family day out. Feronia will be selling local provenance wildflower plants to create your own wildlife spaces. Also homegrown plants from Jessie TogetherOutdoors. Fair Trade tea & cakes available on the lawn in the sunshine amidst flowerbeds buzzing with bees and hoverflies. Free event but donations appreciated.
Photo: Yellow Rattle, the Meadow Maker. When the Yellow Rattle rattles, its time to cut the hay.

There's still plenty of Oxeye Daisy, Red Clover, Catsear, Yellow Rattle, Eyebright, Lesser Stitchwort, Marsh Thistles, etc feeding a wide variety of pollinators. These are now joined by.....

I went out today to check on the Greater Butterfly Orchids at a wildflower verge on the A487 near Tremadog. 15 flower spikes were counted. The site had green hay added 5 years ago from a nearby donor site containing a good population of Greater Butterfly Orchids and has been managed for the wildflowers since.
