I'm busy on a renovation at the moment changing a former pub into a domestic property.
For us to achieve the change of use we must install sprinkler systems I think this is wales only at the moment and try to achieve 4" of insulation at the front and back walls of the property.
Party wall's, insulation is not required however we are putting 2" in.
Most rooms are at a point where I can insulate them, plasterboard and plaster. Here's one room that's finished.

I'm not sure about the rules in England but in Wales when you are doing a refurb you need to stick to the regulations. External walls need to be insulated 4 inches however its not always posble to achieve this so you much achieve as much as posble. Here we have a stone building, with walls estimate 2 foot thick and it's old so no foundations and the walls are damp. If you render walls like this with a waterproofer and plaster it the damp will come back no matter what. You can try the tanking system but unless it's a basement I wouldn't bother. Build a stud wall with breathable membrain on the outside and insulate with insulation boards, plaster board it and plaster it all job done.

Plastering over artex is not always easy at the best of times but plastering over artex and Arches broke me. 🤣😂

42 Square meter ceiling. I did attempt to plaster it on my own but all the heat from the building was rising to the top floor and I've insulated the ceiling. The plaster eoek was OK considering but I wasn't happy with it so I artex it this morning. Now for the tidy up.
