Houston Road closure update

Scottish Gas Networks (SGN) are carrying out emergency gas network repairs following a reported gas escape on Nettlehill Road area, Livingston.

They have temporarily closed Houstoun Road between the entrance to Screwfix Livingston and Grange Road (heading towards Pumpherston) while they carry out emergency repairs to the gas network.

Due to the position of the affected gas main in the carriageway, SGN had to fully close the road to keep everyone safe while theycomplete these essential repairs.

A signed diversion is in place via Houstoun Road, Alderstone Road, Cousland Road and Grange Road. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

SGN are sorry for the inconvenience and their engineers are working as quickly and safely as possible.

A meeting of the full council backed a motion by SNP group depute leader Maria MacAulay to raise awareness of risks of unsafe behaviour.

Councillor MacAulay called on a meeting of the full council to support a “safety awareness event” through the council’s own Community Safety Plan.
