Semi skilled/aspiring tradesman

We are seeking a dedicated Groundworks Labourer to join our construction team. This role involves assisting with various groundwork tasks on-site, supporting the smooth progression of projects. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, reliable, and eager to learn about groundworks operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within the construction industry and work alongside experienced professionals.
Duties
Assisting with excavation, trenching, and site clearance activities
Loading and unloading materials and equipment as required
Preparing sites by setting up barriers, signage, and safety measures
Assisting with the installation of drainage, foundations, and other groundwork components
Maintaining a clean and organised work environment to ensure safety standards are met
Supporting the team with general labouring tasks throughout the project duration
Following health and safety protocols at all times to minimise risks on-site
Experience
Previous experience in construction or groundworks is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Good physical fitness and stamina for manual labour tasks
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn new skills related to groundworks and construction practices
Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to construction sites is desirable but not mandatory
This role is suitable for motivated individuals seeking hands-on experience within the construction sector. A proactive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to safety are essential qualities for success in this position.

CSCS card is essential, Full UK driving licence is preferred but not essential, any additional credentials are beneficial.

Plant operator

We are seeking a skilled 360 excavator operator and groundworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, primarily the 360 excavator, and performing groundworks to support various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, safe operating procedures, and the ability to work efficiently on-site. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with practical experience in excavation and ground preparation, contributing to the successful completion of projects within deadlines. Responsibilities
Operate 360 excavators and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently in accordance with site protocols.
Carry out groundworks including digging, trenching, levelling, and site clearance.
Assist with site set-up and preparation activities as required.
Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to minimise risk on-site.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project progression.
Assist with loading and unloading materials using appropriate machinery.
Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout the project duration.
Experience
Proven experience operating 360 excavators in a construction or civil engineering environment.
Mechanical knowledge relevant to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experience working as a groundworker or in similar roles involving excavation, site preparation, or groundwork activities.
Valid commercial driving licence is preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to construction sites is essential.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy loads as required.

Operator must hold the correct CPCS credentials as well as a full UK driving licence, any other additional credentials are beneficial within the application process.
You will be required to work as part of a team, undertaking tasks under a sub contracted WMDC council scheme that we have been awarded.
The job is on a self employed basis, the contract we have been awarded is for a period of 6 months basis in and around the Wakefield Metropolitan District.
