Modern fire safety, Victorian character kept.

We took out the original Victorian door frame and replaced it with a custom-made FD30s fire door, built to suit the opening.

The wall was thick enough that we could set the new frame without touching the hallway side. That meant the original period features on the hall side stayed exactly where they were, and the room now has 30-minute fire resistance with smoke seals.

Older buildings don't have to lose their history to meet today's standards. It just takes careful planning and the right installers.

Liverpool is full of Victorian and Edwardian houses that are now flats and HMOs their doorways often taller, wider and out of square through years of settlement. Standard doors are not an option. We cut out this large victorian doorway and fitted a custom made fd30s fire door assembly keeping the original features on the hallway side as this was possible due to the wall thickness being so wide.

We've just finished a custom-made fire door assembly for a loft room conversion. Loft rooms often have awkward openings and sloping ceilings, so an off-the-shelf fire door isn't always an option. This one was built to fit the opening exactly.

🔥 Custom-made fire door install, cellar door, start to finish
Every fire door is only as good as its installation. Here's what goes into getting it right:
1️⃣ Survey and measure the opening
2️⃣ Custom-make the door to suit (FD30/FD60)
3️⃣ Fit the frame, plumb, level and secure
4️⃣ Check the gaps: about 3mm at the head and sides
5️⃣ Fit 3 hinges (fire-rated)
6️⃣ Install intumescent strips and smoke seals
7️⃣ Fit the latch, lock and door closer
8️⃣ Final checks and signing off with certification
