Highlights of Hampton Court Flower show. My favourite gardens were :
Living la Vida 120 with the beautiful yellow walls and lovely planting
The South West Water Green Garden with the lovely planting and I especially liked the paving
Best of Both Worlds particularly the soft planting and the lovely seating area enclosed with plants
Finally, Piet Oudolfs wild-looking meadow-style planting
Features that I thought were nice
The lovely wall made of trunks of wood and the wall made out of gabions and filled with stone

This morning, I was at a clients house measuring an area in their garden, as they want me to design an English Rose Garden for them. Last year I planted their front drive and to-day it was looking wonderful with the beautiful Cornus and Hellebores

I have just ordered my snowdrops in the green. My soil is not ideal for snowdrops but I always buy 100 a year to plant in my garden. They make you smile when they appear in the depth of winter. Once they have finished flowering, is the best time to dig up and replant large clumps of snowdrops to increase your stock

I went to a very interesting talk from Paul Gallivan head gardener of Woolbeding. One area that he spoke about was the entrance to the gardens (which was the old farmyard) that had been designed by Isabel and Julian Bannerman in a mediterranean feel with formal water pools. It was important that this garden was low maintenance and the planting was in the Piet Oudolf style but the soil was not enriched with manure or compost as they want the plants to be tough and not need staking they only ever water is in the spring (if required). I always love this area and just shows you that choosing the right plants is so important but at the same time you can have a beautiful garden that is not labour intensive.
