Sometimes an annual sweep isn’t enough.

🔥Is your chimney ready ahead of log burner season? 🔥

There’s nothing quite like getting the log burner going on a chilly evening… but when was the last time you had your chimney swept? 🏠

Even a lined chimney needs regular sweeping. A build-up of soot and deposits inside the flue can increase the risk of a chimney fire.

🧹 If you burn wood, the guidance recommends having your chimney swept quarterly when in use.

Before you light up, ask yourself:
👉 When was my chimney last swept?
👉 Is my log burner and fireplace clean and well maintained?
👉 Am I ready for the colder months?

A cosy fire should be a safe fire. ❤️🔥

And so it begins… silly season! 😅

For anyone who doesn't know, “silly season” is what chimney sweeps call the period between the 1st of September and Christmas, when we all suddenly get inundated with bookings and barely get a moment to breathe.

September is virtually full already, so it looks like this year's silly season is going to live up to its name!

If you're hoping to have your chimney swept before Christmas, it's probably a good idea not to leave it too long to get booked in.

Right then… here we go! 😂🔥

It feels a bit early to be talking about Christmas, but September is virtually full already.

If you know you’ll want your chimney swept before Christmas, I’d recommend getting it booked sooner rather than later. Once everyone starts lighting their fires again, the diary fills up very quickly.

If you’re already booked in for your annual sweep, you don’t need to do anything 👍

I wonder how many chimney sweeps have been here before me…

This fantastic sundial at Harrington Hall is dated 1681.

I can’t say how old the chimney I was working in is, but standing inside that enormous old flue certainly gets you thinking about the generations of sweeps who may have been there before me.

Centuries of history — and another sweep added to the list.

The sundial still works too… although nobody told it about British Summer Time. 😂
