☀️ Is your lawn looking like this right now? You’re not alone — and the good news is it’s probably not as bad as it looks.

With the recent heat across the UK, thousands of lawns have turned brown and straw-like. Before you panic, here’s what you need to know:

Why has this happened?
Grass goes dormant in prolonged heat and drought to protect itself. It’s not dead — it’s surviving. The roots are still alive underground even when the surface looks completely burnt out.

What can you do yourself right now?
🚫 Don’t cut it — mowing stressed grass makes it worse
💧 Water in the early morning or evening if you can — avoid midday watering
🌱 Be patient — once temperatures drop and rain returns most lawns recover on their own within 2-4 weeks

When does it need professional help?
If your lawn hasn’t recovered after a few weeks of cooler weather and rain, or if you’re seeing bare patches, compaction, or moss taking over, that’s when it’s worth calling us in. We can assess whether it needs overseeding, scarifying, aeration, or in more serious cases a full lawn renovation or returfing.
