Billinghay Athletic JFC U9s – Father’s Day Tournament Match Report
Billinghay Athletic JFC U9s travelled to Lincoln for their first tournament of the year on Father’s Day, joining the U7s to set up camp and prepare for a huge day of football. Wearing their brand‑new kit, every player stood proudly, representing the club with confidence and excitement. Throughout the grounds you could hear it ringing out — “UP THE HAY!” — a chant that followed them from the first whistle to the last.
First Match
Billinghay Athletic U9s vs Lincoln United
The sun was already beating down, but the U9s came out firing. From the very first kick they pressed hard, moved the ball quickly, and put Lincoln United under real pressure. Their determination paid off with an early goal and a well‑deserved first win of the tournament 🏆.
Second Match
Billinghay Athletic U9s vs Bardney Panthers
After a quick hydration break — plus plenty of watermelon and oranges — the team were ready again. This match demanded more: faster passing, sharper movement, and constant attacking play. Shot after shot was denied by an impressive keeper, but then came the breakthrough — a corner swung in and finished brilliantly. Two games, two wins 🏆🏆.
Third Match
Billinghay Athletic U9s vs Greenbank
This was the toughest test so far. Greenbank pushed hard, but Billinghay battled for every ball, counter‑attacked with intent, and never once dropped their heads. Despite their effort, this one ended in their first loss of the day. But the best moment wasn’t a goal — it was the smiles as they walked off, knowing they had given everything.
Final Match
Billinghay Athletic U9s vs Louth Reds
With the heat rising and legs getting tired, the U9s stepped out one last time, still proud in their new kit. They fought for every inch, found clever gaps, and pushed through balls right to the final whistle. The result didn’t go their way, but the effort was outstanding.
Final Standing:
Finishing 3rd overall in the table in their first tournament of the year is an achievement every player should be incredibly proud of. The passion, teamwork, and resilience shown throughout the day were exceptional.
Craig and Adi couldn’t be prouder of how far this group has come — not just as footballers, but as teammates.
They may not have lifted the tournament trophy, but they walked away as winners in every way that matters.
