From The Archives 📖 Skegness Tower Gardens

We were so pleased to work on the regeneration of Skegness Tower Gardens in 2024, a Grade II Registered Park with origins dating back to the 19th century.

Working from RIBA Stage 3–7, the team prepared a long-term vision masterplan and led the delivery of the first phase of improvements. Our priority was to conserve the historic core while enhancing accessibility ♿ and the visitor experience. The scheme included restoration of the original pond and cascade, path upgrades using permeable systems to protect tree health, and the introduction of a new sensory garden.

The project breathed life back into this important heritage asset, making it a beautiful place for the general public to use for years to come. The cherry on the cake? It was recognised with a Highly Commended award at the Greater Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards.🏆

Lindsey and Jake have spent the week in Nottingham on a Revit Essentials course, building their knowledge and developing some valuable new skills.

We’re delighted to share that Jake Haywood has been named a finalist in the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards in the Degree Apprentice category! 🎉👏

Since joining Influence in 2022, Jake has gone from strength to strength, combining his studies with hands-on experience across a range of landscape planning and design projects. His commitment to developing his skills, supporting colleagues and making a positive contribution to the industry makes this recognition thoroughly deserved.

We’re delighted that our public realm design for Mansfield Market Place received unanimous approval at Planning Committee last week! 🎉

Working in line with the Mansfield Masterplan, the proposals will transform the heart of Mansfield town centre by creating a vibrant, flexible and welcoming public space that continues to support the town’s historic market, while creating opportunities for future events and community activities. 🌳🏙️

The scheme includes:

-A reimagined market square with high-quality stone paving
-New tree planting and rain gardens creating a town garden to the west of the square

-New seating, street furniture, interpretation and incidental urban play features

-The retention of the Bentinck Monument at the heart of the square, enhanced with seating, planting, lighting and interpretation

-The decommissioning of the disused fountains outside the Old Town Hall and the introduction of a new water feature within the garden area

We’re incredibly proud to be part of a fantastic collaborative team helping to shape a greener, more sustainable and people-focused future for Mansfield town centre.

What a ride🚴‍♀️

On Friday, Influence were proud to sponsor the Tour de France event at Earn Your Fizz Fitness, bringing the excitement of the world’s greatest cycling race into the studio.

Members took on the challenge by riding through stages of the Tour during RIDE sessions, creating an incredible atmosphere full of energy, determination and team spirit. 💪

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part. Your enthusiasm made the event a success! A special thank you to the fitness team for organising - here’s to many more events that bring our community together.

It was a trip down memory lane for Jake this week as he returned to The Joseph Whitaker School to attend their annual Careers Fair! 🎓

Representing Influence Landscape Planning and Design, Jake spoke with students about the exciting opportunities within landscape architecture, planning and the wider built environment, sharing his own journey from sitting in those very classrooms to building a career in the industry. 🌿

It was fantastic to see so many students engaged, asking thoughtful questions and exploring their future career options.

We’re proud to support the next generation by helping young people discover the diverse and rewarding careers our industry has to offer, and Jake is looking forward to returning next week for the Year 12 Student Enrichment Morning!

Team away day 2026 ✨

A fantastic day spent exploring, learning, creating and catching up as a team! 💚

Our first stop was Sandilands, where we had the opportunity to see the realisation of our design for the National Trust Nature Reserve. It was incredibly rewarding to experience the project on the ground and see the landscape evolving. A huge thank you to Nicola Craven for guiding us through the first section of the site and sharing valuable insights into the reserve. 🌾

A big thank you as well to The Vista at the Boatshed for providing delicious picnic lunches and for keeping us fuelled with excellent coffee. ☕️

In the afternoon, we swapped walking boots for willow weaving at Alford Craft Market – a brilliant opportunity to get creative and try something new.

We rounded off a fantastic day together with a delicious dinner at Restaurant Auction House, Louth. 🍽️

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. It’s always great to spend time together outside the office, celebrating our projects, learning from others and strengthening our team.
