PROJECT COMPLETE: MOSSEND RAIL🚆

We’re delighted to share the successful completion of our works on the upgrade of Mossend Rail Freight Terminal in Motherwell for I&H Brown. Our scope included over 695m of concrete beam which housed an Aco Qmax slot drainage channel.

A key challenge was delivering the works while maintaining full operational activity across the site — something the team managed successfully through careful planning, coordination and ex*****on.

The project is strengthening one of Scotland’s most strategically important freight corridors and helping to improve reliability for both freight and passenger services.
A great project to be part of, and another one successfully delivered by the team. 👏

Take a look at our new laser screed in action at our Finstown site in Orkney!

The screed uses laser-guided technology, receiver detection and automatic height control to deliver a level, smooth and durable concrete slab, while helping to speed up installation times.

At Murform, we’re committed to continuous improvement, investing in better ways of working to enhance efficiency, increase productivity and maintain the highest standards of quality across every project.

PPROJECT UPDATE: TESLA Battery Energy Storage System⚡

Swipe to see the progress so far in Coldstream! 👇

We have just completed the 140 megapack foundations, 140 transformer foundations and 4 switch rooms to the main platform on this major BESS scheme in the Scottish Borders.

We are also progressing onto the HV compound where we are delivering 2 large SGT bunds and equipment foundations

Working for our client Knights Brown, we’re proud to be delivering this critical energy infrastructure, which is set to become one of the largest battery energy storage developments in Scotland.

Strategically located between Scotland and England, the BESS will help address grid constraints and support greater integration of renewable energy by storing excess wind power.

A great milestone achieved and another step forward in delivering the infrastructure needed to support the UK’s transition to a more renewable energy future.🌱

🏗️ PROJECT COMPLETE | BLINDWELLS, EAST LOTHIAN

Another project successfully delivered!

We’ve supported I&H Brown in building a 4.5m Retaining wall on their Blindwells development in East Lothian, as part of the ongoing works on this large scale new housing development.

We also fitted in several monument plinths — an added detail that we were pleased to incorporate into the project!

Blindwells is a significant development that will help deliver much-needed new homes and infrastructure for the local area.

A big thank you to I&H Brown for the opportunity and continued collaboration.

From large concrete pile caps and concrete jackets to specialist concrete repairs — our work on the M8 Woodside project shows exactly why we're trusted as a full support contractor to Amey Plc.

Our scope covered groundworks, large pile caps, pier/pile-cap strengthening, concrete jacketing, road protection matting and specialist concrete repairs.

And behind it all, our Management and Engineering teams supplied everything required to deliver: materials, setting out, plant, cranage, specialist testing, hydro demolition, coring and road protection material.

Full scope. Full support. Job done.

From his day job at Murform to the football pitch — Leigh certainly knows how to keep busy! ⚽

Throughout the summer, Leigh swaps the work boots for the football boots as he co-manages Embo AFC, Dornoch, who compete in the North West Sutherland Amateur Football League.
We were delighted to get behind the team by sponsoring their brand-new away kits! đź‘•

Fully self-funded, Embo AFC provides a brilliant opportunity for players from school age right through to adulthood to get involved, enjoy the game, stay active, make friends and, most importantly, be part of something positive in the local community.

It’s fantastic to see the team going from strength to strength, and we’re proud to play a small part in supporting the club and the people behind it. 💙
Keep up the great work, lads.

Another great shot for the photo album!

Here’s a look at what’s been happening at Clashindarroch Wind Farm, where we’re working alongside Jones Bros Civil Engineering to develop 14 new turbines.

There’s some serious progress being made, and it’s great to see the project really starting to take shape, come rain or shine! Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 61,000 homes. It’s a massive impact, and we’re fully invested in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Scotland.

Recently, Daniel and Catalan from our team in Orkney spent some time volunteering at a local charity shop, Mind-On, which raises funds for mental health services within the Orkney community.

With the goal of refurbishing the shop’s storage areas, the team rolled up their sleeves and got to work, temporarily relocating stock, installing new racking and shelving, carrying out repairs to existing storage, reorganising the shop’s stock and helping return everything to the newly refurbished spaces.

The result is a safer, more efficient environment for the charity and its volunteers, helping them make the most of their resources and allowing more of their funding to go towards the important frontline services they provide.

Getting involved with the communities we work in is something we’re really passionate about, and we’re delighted to have played our part in supporting such an important local cause. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved!

There's been plenty happening at our Finstown Substation project over the last few weeks, and these images capture some of the highlights.

Alongside another successful concrete pour and the day-to-day work on site, they show the things that matter just as much, the morning briefings, ongoing training and the teamwork that keeps the project moving safely and efficiently.

They also mark the end of a chapter for one of our team.

Joe O'Dwyer joined the project when works started back in May 2025 as a 19-year-old concrete operative, taking his first steps into the construction industry. Over the course of the job, he's gained valuable experience and developed new skills, growing in confidence thanks to the support and guidance of his colleagues. Through his hard work, commitment and positive attitude, Joe has become a valued member of the team.

Before setting off on a well-earned gap year travelling around Australia, Joe was presented with a bottle of 25-year-old Highland Park wh**ky by our Site Manager, Michael Mallon, as a small thank you for everything he's contributed since day one. We know he's looking to build on the experience he's gained at Murform during his travels, and we wish him every success in the next stage of his journey.

The Finstown project is helping deliver critical infrastructure that will support the future connection of Orkney's renewable energy to the mainland electricity network, and we're proud that alongside building this important asset, we're helping young people start and develop rewarding careers in construction.

Best of luck, Joe! Everyone at Murform wishes you safe travels and every success for the adventure ahead.
