But when did you last test your heating system?
A few simple checks now could help you avoid an unpleasant surprise on the first really cold morning! 🥶
🏡 5 SIMPLE HEATING CHECKS TO DO BEFORE WINTER
1️⃣ Turn your heating on
Don’t wait until you need it every day. Run your heating for 15–20 minutes and check that your radiators start warming up and your home reaches the temperature you expect.
2️⃣ Check your radiators
Are some radiators cold at the top, taking ages to warm up, or staying cold altogether? These could be signs that your system needs attention.
3️⃣ Check your thermostat and controls
Make sure your thermostat is working, the batteries are good if required, and your heating comes on when you ask it to.
4️⃣ Keep an eye on your boiler
Look for any warning lights, error codes, unusual noises or visible leaks. If your boiler displays a fault, check the manufacturer’s guidance and contact a qualified engineer if needed. Never remove the boiler casing yourself.
5️⃣ Book your annual boiler service
A service helps check that your boiler is operating safely and correctly, and gives an engineer the opportunity to identify potential problems before winter sets in.
⚠️ DON’T IGNORE THE WARNING SIGNS
If your heating isn’t working as it should, don’t leave it until the cold weather arrives. Getting it checked early can give you more time to resolve any issues.
