Former Oxford House → Lexden Hall School, Colchester

This was a big one. 👊

A complete 17-week renovation and modernisation programme, with £1 million of works delivered, transforming the former Oxford House into Lexden Hall School and bringing the building fully up to date and compliant with current Building Regulations and Building Control requirements.

With the Ofsted registration deadline approaching, the whole team really stepped up. We worked nights, weekends and whatever hours were needed to keep the project moving and get it over the line.

A huge thank you to everyone at EC Build, along with all of our subcontractors and suppliers, who put the hours in to make this happen.

And equally, a big thank you to the client, Matt and Craig from the project management team, and Headmaster David and his team at Lexden Hall School.

This genuinely became a joint team effort, with everyone working together towards the same goal.

17 weeks. £1 million of works. One major transformation.

Some projects deserve a little more than the usual before-and-after post, and this is definitely one of them.

This is one of those projects we’re really proud of — not just because of the finished result, but because of the effort, teamwork and commitment it took from everyone involved to deliver it.

Bedwell Crescent | Recently Completed 🏡

Another project completed and we’re really pleased with how this one has turned out.

A full transformation, including front, side and rear extensions, creating a much larger and more practical family home.

It’s been a great project to work on and even better seeing the finished result for such a lovely family.

Another one complete ✅

Back at the end of August we completed our third new cabin in three years at this specialist school in Somerset, ready for the start of the new school year.

Great to be asked back again after completing the previous cabins here, and good to see another new space ready for the pupils and staff.

Oxford House School Update
We’re making fantastic progress at Oxford House School. Our team have been working tirelessly from day 1, and the refurbishment is really starting to take shape. It’s always rewarding to see a project reach this stage, and we’re proud of the quality and dedication being shown by everyone involved. Not long now until the finished product!

This project involved a full remodel of the ground floor, removing the old conservatory and relocating the kitchen from the front of the house to the heart of the home.

Increasing natural light was one of the client’s main priorities, so by opening up the layout and incorporating large roof lights, we’ve completely transformed the space into a bright, open-plan family kitchen that’s perfect for modern family living.

It was a pleasure to work for such a lovely family, helping bring their vision to life in what is a beautiful home.

We couldn’t be happier with the finished result.

Portreath loft conversion for a valued returning client.

This one takes the distance record for us - just 26 miles from Land’s End 💪

Converting the loft space into a live-in carer’s room with ensuite within an active children’s home, so works need to be carried out carefully while the home stays fully operational throughout.

Full refurbishment of the former Oxford House School in Colchester now underway.

We’ve also started three additional sites today for the same client - Cornwall, Southampton and Tadley
