A Fresh New Look for Stotfold Memorial Hall

Gilbert & Gregson is proud to have completed the refurbishment of Stotfold Memorial Hall, creating a lighter, brighter and more modern space for the local community to enjoy.

A much-loved community venue, the hall regularly hosts family celebrations, fitness and exercise classes, community groups and a wide range of local activities. The refurbishment was designed to refresh the facilities while retaining the welcoming character that makes the hall such an important part of Stotfold.

The Refurbishment included;
✔️Installation of a brand-new kitchen
✔️Full redecoration throughout
✔️A fresh, modern colour scheme
✔️Improvements to create a brighter and more welcoming environment

The new kitchen provides a practical, modern facility for those hiring and using the hall, while the complete redecoration has transformed the wider space. The finished result feels clean, contemporary and inviting, ready to accommodate everything from children’s parties and family celebrations to local classes and community events.

Supporting a Valued Community Space

Stotfold Memorial Hall has played an important role in the town for many years, bringing people together and providing a versatile space at the heart of the community.

We are delighted to have helped give this much-loved local landmark a fresh new chapter and hope residents and visitors will enjoy the improved facilities for many years to come.

One of our biggest environmental projects so far ➡️ Case Study | Cambridge.

Gilbert and Gregson are proud to have delivered this bespoke new-build home in Cambridge — a project that brings together contemporary architecture, sustainability, and carefully considered accessibility.

With a 60-week programme and a £2.5m build value, the project involved the demolition of existing barns and required extensive ecological coordination due to protected bat roosts and the presence of rare newts. Working closely with ecological consultants, all species were safely relocated and the required licences secured prior to construction.

The completed three-bedroom home has been designed around the client’s specific needs, combining high-quality design with future-ready, inclusive living.

Key features include:
• Three large bedrooms, including an accessible master suite
• Passenger lift providing step-free access across floors
• Level thresholds throughout
• Self-contained carer’s wing with private access
• Polished concrete floors to main living spaces
• Salvaged timber flooring from the original barns, restored and reinstalled
• Open-plan kitchen and living space opening onto a bespoke courtyard
• Extensive hard and soft landscaping to enhance privacy
• External terrace designed for accessible outdoor living
• Specialist substructure tanking due to high water table conditions

Sustainability was central to the design and delivery:
• Triple-glazed windows
• Solar panels
• High insulation values
• Energy-efficient appliances and lighting
• Reuse of original materials to reduce waste and preserve site history

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, technical expertise, and environmental responsibility can come together to create a home that supports independent living without compromise — on performance, comfort, or aesthetics.
