⚡️How we strip SWA cable — and why it matters ♻️

Ever wondered what’s actually inside an SWA cable? Here’s a quick look at the process:

1️⃣ **Outer sheath**
We start by removing the outer PVC sheath.

2️⃣ **Steel wire armour**
Once the outer sheath is removed, we expose the steel wire armour (SWA).

3️⃣ **Bedding / inner sheath**
Underneath the armour is the bedding, which separates and protects the insulated cores from the steel armour.

4️⃣ **Core insulation**
We then strip back the insulation around the individual conductors, exposing the copper cores.

5️⃣ **Copper conductor**
The copper conductor is the part that carries the electrical current.

♻️ But it’s not just about what’s inside the cable — it’s about what happens afterwards. By stripping and separating SWA cable, valuable materials such as copper and steel can be recovered and recycled, helping to reduce waste and keep materials in use rather than sending them to landfill.

It’s a small part of what we do, but responsible material recovery is an important part of making electrical work more sustainable. 🌱
