https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56268159 This is likely to continue fuelling the frenetic activity in the housing market and a "price correction" will probably come eventually but at least the Stamp Duty holiday is being phased out rather than coming to a full stop! For the longer term the Government should really be considering reforming the SD regime as it makes little sense in its current form. Why not a flat 1% transaction tax on all property sales - residential and commercial?

After June there will be tapered relief for the next three months, the chancellor announces.

This is a condensing boiler condensation outlet pipe that has frozen solid! This could result in the boiler failing. The pipe is 32mm diameter, correct, and has a good fall but it drops into the gulley (guidance is that it should really run into the gulley, so through the grating, but we rarely see that). This pipe runs for just over 3 metres and it should, therefore, be insulated and/or have trace heating to stop it freezing, although I'm not sure either would have made much difference over the past few days in The Frozen North! Strange what you can find in a roof void! The heat from this bulb has melted a hole in the lid to the plastic hot water tank!

Why do people do this, or allow their contractors to do it, and think it'll be OK? Extractor fan ducting into the roof void - look at the amount of damp and mould! And - this is from a bathroom so not only is the extracted air damp it's also "foul" (i.e. smelly)!

Only a small tree, shouldn't really be an issue. Look how far the roots have gone down the inspection chamber (nearly 2m deep) searching for water and nutrients.

Always nice to get a "thank you"!

I want to thank you for all your hard work in getting that report to us last weekend. I know it can’t have been easy for you given the very tight timescale and your own circumstances, but you did it anyway. I think that often people just don’t understand the pressures and commitment it takes to have things in place according to a timescale, which is why that timescale often slips - others don’t do what they’re supposed to do when they are supposed to do it! Your extra hard work then in ensuring that the report was with us for the hearing is very much appreciated. Your report meant that we had the final piece of the jigsaw and I am very pleased to report that the parties were able to reach agreement and settle matters on Monday morning. The consequences of us not having had that report would have been a final hearing at huge cost and anxiety to my client. So thank you John, thank you very much, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure we've not bothered calling in a qualified electrician to wire up this electric shower!
