⚫ 🔴 May 8th 2026 - Victory in Europe Day

81 years on, and it still matters.

Across the North and the whole of the UK, families and communities came together back in 1945 to celebrate the end of the war in Europe.

There was relief, hope, and a chance to look ahead again.

Today, we remember those who gave everything, and the generation who kept going through it all. Their resilience and community spirit are the same values that still shape towns like ours today.

From all of us here, we’re taking a moment to reflect, be grateful and remember why days like this should never be forgotten.
