Another day, another public toilet lock! 🚽🔐🤣

Back to Southchurch Park for this one, where it looks like someone gave the door a pretty hefty kick and damaged the lock. 😱

Unfortunately, vandalism like this can leave these facilities unsecured or unusable until someone comes along and sorts them out. That's where I come in! 🔧

Damaged lock removed, replacement fitted and everything working and secure again. 👍

I've certainly seen the inside of more public toilets than I ever expected when I became a locksmith 😂, but these facilities matter to the local community (especially the accessible toilets), so I'm pleased to help keep them open, working, and secure.

Another lovely five-star review, this time from Yvonne on TrustATrader. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Being locked out is stressful enough without worrying about how you'll get back in (or what damage might be caused in the process). 😫

Thankfully, I got Yvonne back inside within minutes and without causing any damage, which is always what I aim for wherever possible. 💯

Reviews like this are exactly why I do what I do. When someone calls me in an emergency, they're putting their trust in me at a pretty stressful moment, and I never take that lightly.💙

No trip to the key cutters afterwards! 🔑

A lock change in Shoebury for a customer whose key would no longer go into the keyway.

Once the new lock was fitted, he also needed five extra keys... and I can sort those there and then from my van. 💪

It might seem like a small thing, but it saves you having to take your new key somewhere else afterwards, pay to have copies made and then get home only to discover one doesn't work quite as smoothly as it should. I hear about that happening surprisingly often!

When I cut your extra keys, I can test every one in the lock before I leave, so we both know they work properly. 👍

Five extra keys cut, five keys checked, and the whole job finished in one visit.

Just another little service I can offer that hopefully saves my customers time, hassle and money. 😊🔐

I had a call from a couple who'd snapped their key in the lock and were completely locked out. 😯

To make matters worse, their dog was inside in his cage waiting for them, so understandably they were desperate to get back in. 🐶❤️

I tried everything I could to remove the broken piece and get the lock to turn without destroying it, but this one simply wasn't having any of it. 😫

Eventually, only one option remained... I had to drill the lock. 💪

The important bit is that destructive entry is always my last resort, not my starting point. I'll try every sensible avenue first, and if I do eventually have to drill, I know how to do it properly. 😉

I opened the door with no damage to it, fitted a new euro cylinder, and cut four extra keys on site before I left. 🔑🔑🔑🔑

No smashed-up door. No unnecessary damage. No horror story of a huge bill to put everything right afterwards. Just one working door, plenty of new keys and, most importantly, two very relieved owners reunited with their dog. 🐾🙌

Some days I really do feel like the fourth emergency service! 😂🤣

A chap who had just moved into his new flat in Leigh-on-Sea had recently had a brand-new fire door fitted and wanted the additional security of a deadlock.

This wasn't a case of removing an old lock and replacing it with another. This was a fresh fit into a brand-new fire door, so there was no room for guesswork. 😬

I fitted the deadlock with a thumb-turn euro cylinder on the inside, giving him the extra security he wanted while letting him open the lock quickly from inside without needing a key (an important consideration when you're dealing with means of escape and fire safety).

Jobs like this show why choosing a locksmith based on the cheapest advertised call-out price isn't always the best idea. 💯

Those £49 adverts might get someone to pick up the phone, but would they have the knowledge and experience to confidently take on a fresh installation like this without compromising an expensive new fire door? 🤷‍♂️

I've been doing this for over 10 years, and I'm MLA Approved. Sometimes you're paying for the lock… but you're also paying for the experience to know how, where and whether it should be fitted in the first place. 👍🔐

Another one I’m very grateful for! 💙

A lovely recent review from Julie on TrustATrader, and I just wanted to say a big thank you for taking the time to leave it. 🙏

After more than 10 years doing this job, I still never take your trust for granted. The fact that so many of you are happy to recommend me or say you'd call me again really does mean a lot. 🔐😊

I don't often get photos of myself actually on the job, so when this lovely customer in Thorpe Bay took a few, I thought I'd better make the most of them! 😂😂

She originally called me because one bathroom window wouldn't open and another wouldn't close properly.

One needed a replacement window mechanism, and the other needed a new set of hinges.

While I was there, she also mentioned that some of her window handles were loose, so I tightened those up for her too. 👍

It's a good reminder that I'm not just here for locks and doors. I repair all sorts of window problems too, and quite often they can be repaired without the expense of replacing the whole window.

And apparently, if you ask nicely, I'll even let you photograph me working! 😂👏🫶

I thought I'd share a few photos from some of my recent jobs because you lot are certainly keeping me busy at the moment! 🦸🤣

These are different jobs, all with different problems to solve... and they're just a snapshot of what I've been up to lately.

I know that when you need a locksmith, especially when it involves your home's security, choosing who to trust isn't something you take lightly. The fact that so many of you keep calling me, recommending me to friends and family, tagging Grants Locks in local groups, and coming back to me when you need something else genuinely means a lot. 🥰

Being this busy is probably the best recommendation a small local business can have, and I never take it for granted. 💙

So a big thank you to everyone who keeps my phone ringing and my van on the road! 🙏
