πŸŽ“ SAFETY ACADEMY #002

Your PPE needs to work together.

A helmet, visor and hearing protection might all be essential parts of your setup β€” but that doesn't automatically mean they're compatible with each other.

Before starting work, check:

βœ… Your PPE components are compatible
βœ… You're following the manufacturer's instructions
βœ… Everything is correctly fitted and secure

⚠️ Always check that accessories are approved for use with your specific helmet.

The right PPE isn't just about wearing it β€” it's about making sure the equipment you're using is designed to work together.

πŸ‘‡ Do you check PPE compatibility when adding new accessories to your kit?

πŸ’‘ PRO TIPS #001

Sometimes it's the simplest habits that make the biggest difference.

Keeping a spare pair of gloves in your van means you're prepared if your current pair gets wet, damaged or simply wears out during the day.

It's a small tip that can help keep you comfortable and productive while you're on the job.

πŸ‘‡ What's your best arborist tip?

Whether it's about PPE, climbing, chainsaw maintenance or something you've learnt through experience, share it in the comments and help someone else in the industry.

🌳 Every arborist has that one piece of PPE that never seems to last as long as the rest...

Is it your:
πŸͺ– Helmet
🧀 Gloves
πŸ‘’ Boots
πŸ‘– Chainsaw Trousers
🎧 Hearing Protection

Or is it something else?

πŸ‘‡ Tell us what you replace most often and why.

Is it because of wear and tear, the type of work you do, or have you found certain products last longer than others?

Your experience could help other arborists make better buying decisions, and we'd love to hear what's worked well for you.

Let's get the conversation going! πŸ‘‡πŸŒ³

πŸ” KIT EXPLAINED Β· 001 | TYPE A vs TYPE C

Type A and Type C chainsaw trousers don't offer the same coverage.

🟠 Type A β€” front leg cut protection and typically used for ground work.

🟠 Type C β€” all-round leg cut protection and strongly recommended for aerial tree work.

PPE selection should always be based on the work being carried out and the risk assessment.

πŸ‘‡ Ground crew or climber β€” what are you wearing most often?

πŸ”¨ PPE MYTH BUSTERS #001

❌ β€œIf my PPE looks fine, it's still safe.”

Not necessarily.

Visible damage isn't the only consideration when checking PPE. Its condition, fit, maintenance and the manufacturer's instructions all matter.

πŸ‘€ Inspect. Check. Replace.

If PPE is damaged, it may need replacing, and it should always be used in line with the manufacturer's instructions. Current HSE guidance supports regular PPE monitoring and says damaged head protection should be replaced.

πŸ’¬ Be honest β€” how often do you inspect your PPE?
