This customer had just about had enough of the mould 🦠growing in the silicone bead around her shower tray 🚿

So the old bead was scraped away and the area fully cleaned 🧽 then some Dow 785+ bacteria resistant silicone was used to replace the bead.

Although no sealant is fully mould 🦠resistant this will last a lot longer than the cheaper stuff that was used before.

Had a couple of basin lever waste replacements over the last couple of weeks.

I’ve honestly no idea why they have literally disintegrated 😮

The first one literally fell to bits as soon as I tried to unscrew it 🤦‍♂️ 😑 so after some time spent with my hacksaw it came off 💪 the second one was a little stiff but wasnt too bad to unscrew.

As always I used plumbers mate and both failed wastes replaced with new basin lever wastes ✨

🤢 Foul smells coming from the sink🤢

Didn’t take long to find the issue with this one 🤦‍♂️ for some bizarre reason, the previous owner of this house decided it would be a good idea to plumb the sink overflow, in to the waste pipe, after the trap.

So rather than the trap stopping any bad smells coming back up the pipes, they instead wafted straight out the over flow 👃 💩 (higlighted with the blue line)

So out with the old sink waste and strainer, and in with the new sink waste with OVERFLOW!

Pipework reassembled, tested and a non-smelly sink back in order! 👊

The busier I get, the more I forget to update my page! 🫣🙄

The o-rings and nylon inserts in this tap had worn down to the point it was leaking all over the lovely solid wood worktop 😦

I was unable to source any spares for this particular tap, so my customer decided they would like a new tap similiar to the original🚰

Due to how tight it was in and around the pipe work, I opted to get my pipe benders out instead of using compression fittings on the cold feed 💪

These taps had seen better days 🫣

The cold insert was seized soild 🤬😑 and after spending more than enough time trying to unscrew the insert, we opted just to replace the taps 🚰 for a shiny ✨ new set!

Half an hour later, old taps out new taps in, with some limescale removed along the way! 🧽

🫠 Yes I know the hot and cold are the wrong way round, this is how they were originally plumbed in!

The customer will have the pipework put right at a later date 👍

🎉Surprise for Mum & Dad! 🎉

This customer was decorating 🎨 their parents toilet whilst they were away on holiday🏝️, and decided the old cistern and pan needed to go!

After sending a few ideas back and forth we decided on this close coupled toilet 🚽 ,which meant a trip to my new favourite merchants Clifton trade bathrooms.

Some minor alterations needed to the cold feed pipe, and the old toilet 🚽 was out and the new one in!🏆

My customer had a new washing machine delivered, but due to the valves leaking the supplier refused to plumb it in 🤦‍♂️ 😑

So as their new washing machine didn’t require a hot feed, I removed the first faulty valve and capped it off with a new piece of pipe and 15mm stop end.

The cold valves and pipework were then replaced with new, as they also leaked when turned off 🫣

After securely fixing the pipework to the wall, a test run of the shiny new washing machine was completed with no issues 😀 🤩

The plan here was to fit a nice new bath shower mixer, as the inserts had become unusable.

But as always with plumbing its not that straight forward! 🫣

There was no way on this earth anyones arms were long enough to reach and work on these tap connectors or the back nuts😤, the only other option would have been to remove the bath 🤦‍♂️ 👎

So after a mad dash to a few merchants, I managed to get some new 1/4 turn cartridges, including the correct spline adapters 😮 💥

So it was old cartridge’s removed and the new ones fitted! ✨🙌

Toilet was constantly filling due to a failing float valve and taking a few pumps of the handle to flush.

So out with the old and in with a new Fluidmaster UK syphon 💦 , float valve and finished off with a new handle ✨

Supported by my trusty apprentice again who was very proud of undoing a super tight nut! 💪

🌡️Thermostatic shower temp fluctuating between hot and cold? 🥶Definite signs the thermostatic cartridge had failed.

🔎After a few hours of searching, we successfully found a replacement from Ideal Standard ! 🙌🏼

Both the elbows on the hot and cold had also been seeping for some time, so a new insert fitted ✅

Along with a service of the shower body where new fibre washers were installed, and temperatures set to an acceptable level!

The cold was then shut off to test the hot fail-safe (this is where it will stop automatically if the cold fails, meaning you won’t get burnt by boiling water!), which all tested satisfactory and the shower was put back into use 👊🏼💪🏼

🩵 Father & Son 🩵

They say teach them young…so tonight my 5 year old (nearly 6, as he reminds me regularly) joined me on a job to remove some radiators 🛠️

He’s always shown an interest in what Daddy does with his tools, whether it’s tinkering with my motorbike 🏍️ or out on a plumbing job 🪠, so tonight he was my apprentice!

For a 5 year old, he’s pretty handy with a screwdriver! 🪛

Now it’s time to wait for the plastering and decorating to be complete, before the radiators are re-fitted!

This leaking basin trap was making a mess of the floor ⚠️

The customer had tried to sort the leak themselves 🩹 but the threads on the trap had been cross threaded, and the rubber had deformed making it impossible to repair 🤦‍♂️

The customer was on a budget so a suitable cheaper replacement was fitted.
