The cheapest quotation can quickly become very expensive if the work is not completed properly.

Citizens Advice found that homeowners who had to spend more money addressing problems lost £750 on average. For one in ten, the additional cost exceeded £5,000.

The consequences were not only financial: 37% of those who experienced a problem said it caused them stress, while 12% said it left them feeling unsafe in their own home.

That is why we believe homeowners should look beyond the initial price and ask:

• How long has the business been established?
• Who will manage the installation?
• What guarantee is provided?
• Will the company return if something needs attention?
