A fantastic end to the week with another planning approval secured! 🎉

We’re excited & proud to share that Phase 2 of Enderby Grange Care Home in Narborough has officially been approved.
The plans will create eight new en-suite bedrooms through a two-storey side extension, first-floor rear extension and loft conversion, as well as improving how the different parts of the care home connect.

With demand for high-quality elderly care continuing to grow, this is a fantastic step forward for the home. The approval will allow them to welcome more residents, continue providing much-needed care and support more families within the local community.

We’ve really enjoyed developing these plans and are so pleased to see the project moving forward. A brilliant result for our client and everyone involved.

The brief for this extension was basically: make room for it all.

A new kitchen, a proper dining area, space for gaming, somewhere to relax and a much stronger connection to the garden, all without the room feeling chaotic or overfilled.

The layout gives each part of the space its own purpose, while the rooflights and wide glazing keeps everything feeling open and connected. The mustard and navy seating add just enough colour to make the room feel fun, personal and far from predictable.

It is practical enough for everyday family life, but still feels like a space you would genuinely look forward to spending time in.

A new boundary is only the beginning.

The real question is how this change will shape Leicester’s growth, investment and development over the years ahead.

There is still plenty of detail to come, but it will be interesting to see whether a more joined-up authority leads to better coordination across planning, housing and infrastructure.

We’ll be following the changes closely, helping our clients understand what they could mean for their sites and making sure their best interests remain at the heart of every decision.

Starting with the outside for this one, because the building itself deserved its moment before moving into the interiors.

The balconies add such a lovely touch and give the apartments that little bit of extra openness, which always makes a difference.

Inside, the kitchens have a clean and modern finish, but the bathrooms definitely stole a little bit of the spotlight on this one.

The lighting, marble effect, darker details and built-in shelf detail all came together so nicely.

A stunning finish throughout and a lovely project to see completed.

A completed home extension with a little look back at where the idea started.

All the finished photos show the space now - bright and open, with the final slide showing the original concept sketch that helped shape the design.

It is always nice seeing the two side by side because so much happens between that first visual and the finished space. The drawings, the building regulations, the decisions on site, material choices and all the finer details that slowly bring it together.

What starts as an idea on paper eventually becomes part of someone’s everyday life. A place where mornings begin, meals are shared, conversations happen and the home starts to feel that little bit more suited to the people living in it.

That is what makes seeing the finished space so special.

A finished home extension in Leicester, designed to feel warm, practical and properly lived in.

By the time a project reaches this stage, so much has happened behind the scenes. The first conversations, the drawings, the planning, the site visits, the decisions and all the little details that slowly bring everything together.

Now, it is a space the family can actually use and enjoy every day.

The kitchen has become part of their routine, the dining table has found its place, and the garden now feels properly connected to the home. It is not overly polished or trying to be a show home. It feels personal, natural and right for the way the family live.

That is what good residential design should do.

Planning is not just about getting drawings submitted.

It is about understanding the site, the risks and the wider context before a client commits time, money and energy into the next stage.

This is especially important on projects where there may be added planning sensitivities, such as conservation areas, Article 4 areas, listed buildings, neighbour impact, access concerns or sites where the outcome is not immediately clear.

A pre-application can be a valuable step because it helps open up that conversation early. It allows potential concerns to be identified before a full application is submitted, giving the design a stronger starting point and helping clients make more informed decisions.

For us, it is never about pushing an application forward just for the sake of it.

This is one of those projects where the more you look, the more you notice.

At first glance, it feels simple and clean but then you start to see how everything works together; the anthracite kitchen, warm herringbone flooring, rooflights, glass doors, bathroom finishes, patio space and external brickwork.

Nothing feels random. Nothing feels like it is trying too hard.

That is usually where the best design sits.

Not too plain.
Not too overdone.
Just considered properly.

The rooflights bring daylight into the kitchen, the glazing opens the home out to the garden and the finishes give each space its own character without making the whole home feel disconnected.

On paper, it is a home extension.

In reality, it changes how the family move through the space, how they use it every day and how the home feels to live in.
