🏗️ Domestic Building Estimator
Stotto Build | Birstall, Leicestershire
Stotto Build is growing, and we’re looking for a Domestic Building Estimator to join our team in Birstall, Leicestershire.
This is a great opportunity for someone who understands domestic construction, has a commercial mindset and enjoys turning building projects into accurate, competitive prices.
You’ll play an important role in helping us price projects correctly from the outset, while working closely with our procurement, design and project management teams.
🏠 The Role
As our Domestic Building Estimator, you’ll be responsible for:
Preparing accurate estimates and quotations for domestic building projects.
Developing and maintaining new pricing for labour, materials and subcontractors.
Pricing extras, variations and additional works.
Reviewing drawings, specifications and designs to establish project costs.
Working closely with procurement to obtain competitive supplier and subcontractor prices.
Identifying potential cost risks, omissions and opportunities to improve value.
Understanding how changes to design and specification can affect the overall project price.
Working alongside our design, procurement and project teams to ensure projects are accurately priced.
🔨 What We Need From You
You’ll need a good general understanding of the domestic building industry, including areas such as:
Extensions
New builds
Different foundation types
Structural works
Kitchens
Bathrooms
Outdoor living
Interiors and finishes
Refurbishments
General domestic construction
You’ll also need a good understanding of UK Building Regulations and, importantly, how different design decisions and construction methods can affect cost, buildability and programme.
👷 Who Are We Looking For?
Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying, construction management or a similar role.
However, we’re also interested in people with a strong hands-on domestic construction background who understand how buildings go together and want to develop their career in estimating.
You should be:
Commercially aware
Highly organised
Good with numbers
Confident reading drawings and specifications
Detail-oriented
A strong communicator
Comfortable working with suppliers and subcontractors
Proactive and able to identify potential problems
Confident using spreadsheets and computer systems
Able to work independently while being part of a wider team
🎓 Full Training Provided
We understand that every business prices projects differently.
Full training will be provided on Stotto Build’s estimating systems, processes, pricing structure and way of working.
What matters most to us is that you have a strong understanding of construction, a good commercial mindset and the desire to learn.
