George Walker Tree Care is looking for an experienced and reliable Class 1 HGV Lorry Driver with HIAB experience to join our growing team.

This is a key role at the heart of our tree removal and site clearance operations, supporting our teams on a wide range of jobs. You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and loading of equipment, timber, waste and materials to and from sites.

The ideal candidate

* Holds a full Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
* Has HIAB experience
* Has a good work ethic and takes pride in their work
* Has excellent timekeeping and reliability
* Is confident working as part of a busy site team
* Is safety-conscious and takes care of vehicles, machinery and equipment
* Is mechanically minded – a real bonus, as basic mechanical knowledge will be valuable
* Digger/excavator certification and experience would be an advantage, but is not essential

The role

You will play an important part in keeping our tree removal and site clearance teams moving, with duties including:

* Driving Class 1 HGV vehicles to and from sites
* Operating HIAB equipment for loading and unloading
* Transporting timber, machinery, green waste and site materials
* Supporting our tree removal and site clearance operations
* Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks
* Working safely and efficiently alongside our teams
* Helping with general site duties when required

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking and willing to get stuck in. This is not just a driving job – you’ll be an important member of the wider team, so a positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed are essential.

Good work ethic and excellent timekeeping are essential.

Today we attended an emergency call-out after a large Pine tree suffered major structural failure, blocking the road and creating a significant hazard, we worked along side National Grid who removed the canopy off the power lines.

To carry out the work safely, we implemented a full road closure, working alongside the relevant authorities, and used a MEWP to safely dismantle the damaged canopy from above. A Hiab was then used to remove the heavy timber efficiently, allowing us to clear the road and make the area safe as quickly as possible.

Emergency tree work is all about planning, the right equipment, and working safely under pressure. Thanks to everyone involved for helping ensure the job was completed without incident.

🚧 Today, we responded quickly to an emergency call-out for Rutland County Council. After assessing the situation, our team carried out the necessary work promptly and safely, allowing the road to reopen in no time.

Today’s task for Lewis and Nathan’s team was this mature Beech tree which had suffered significant stem failure creating a serious hazard. Using our MEWP we were able to safely dismantle the remaining tree in controlled sections, protecting the surrounding area and ensuring the work was carried out safley, efficiently and professionally.

Despite the challenging weather conditions today the teams got the jobs done, proud of the dedication and hard work from all our team’s today 🌳 👏

Great day out in Birmingham today processing trees that were felled back in March ahead of the bird nesting season 🌳

A huge thank you to the team for putting in a solid 12-hour shift on a Saturday to help us get on top of our current workload — your effort and commitment never go unnoticed.

In total, approximately 50 tonnes of material was processed today, turning what could be waste into manageable, reusable material.

Great service as usual from all at Global Machinery Solutions Ltd, especially Dean and Daniel who went the extra mile. We had this machine on demo a couple of weeks ago and it didn’t take long for us to make our mind up. Can’t wait to see this beast in action again 💪🏼
