Another one we get asked a lot 👀

Fresh plaster needs to be fully dry before you start decorating, you’re looking for an even pale colour with no darker patches left.
Drying times can vary depending on the room, temperature and ventilation, so don’t rush it 🎨

Little sunroom glow up 👀

Walls studded out, fresh plasterboard fitted and then skimmed to a smooth finish 👌🏼

Plenty of fiddly bits in this one to keep Josh busy 😂 but all finished off and ready for the next stage.

Another job wrapped up and another happy customer! 🙌🏼

From the before shots right through to the finished result, this one had a proper transformation and we’re really pleased with how it all came together.

Nothing better than standing back at the end of a job and seeing the difference… especially when the customer is just as happy with it too! 👍🏼👌🏼

A little prep goes a long way 👀

Before Josh arrives to plaster, there are a few simple things that can make the job run smoother and help protect your home properly.

From clearing as much of the room as possible to letting us know about any damp, leaks or loose plaster when Josh comes to quote, or if anything changes before the work starts, these little things can make a big difference.

And don’t worry, pets are always welcome for cuddles, we just ask that they’re kept away from the work area while Josh is plastering 🐾😂

Can you plaster over Artex?

In many cases, yes, but it depends on the condition of the existing surface.

Josh will always check it properly first and advise whether it can be prepared and skimmed over, or whether the better option would be to overboard before plastering.

Some older Artex may contain asbestos, so if you’re unsure, it’s always safest to get it checked before disturbing it.

If you’re unsure what would be best for your ceiling or wall, send us a photo and we can have a look before arranging a quote.

A little repair job from this week 👷‍♂️

Josh originally completed the render on this outdoor area, but some drilling from the other side of the wall unfortunately caused a section of the render to blow.

Josh headed back to remove the damaged section, prep the area and patch everything back up again, leaving it all sorted and looking as it should 👌

Final inspection carried out by the customer’s very thorough site supervisor 🐶🔎

Safe to say, we passed. 😂

Not sure how much you need to clear before plastering?

Ideally, remove as much as you can before Josh arrives. Larger furniture can usually stay if it can be moved into the centre of the room, and Josh will make sure anything remaining is properly covered and protected.

A clearer working area makes the job quicker, easier and helps us protect your home properly while the work is being carried out.

We’re starting a little weekly FAQ series to answer some of the questions customers ask us most, hopefully making things a bit easier before, during and after your plastering work.

Fresh plaster usually takes around 3–7 days to dry, but every room is different.

The key thing to look for is an even, pale colour with no darker patches before you start decorating.
