Back on track 💪

Wednesday didn’t quite go to plan…
Travelled over to pick up a Bumpa hoist, got to Manchester, and ended up with a day we’d rather forget. IT DIDNT WORK!

But that’s construction — you reset and go again.

Today we delivered.
Set up the hoist, got the tiles moving up onto the roof, and cracked on with some detailed lead work including a tricky curved corbel and forming a small box gutter.
Valleys are in.
Tiles going on.
Momentum back.
All in all, a solid day’s work 👌
I won’t say it too loud… but getting back on the tools has been a good reminder of why it all started.

Today we’ve received some terrible news.
Ray, who not only works with us here at KAS Roofing Ltd but has also been a close friend for many years, has suffered a serious accident while on holiday in Turkey.
Anyone who knows Ray will know the type of man he is the kind who would give you his last pound just to make sure you’re alright. Always first to help others, always going above and beyond.

Now, for the first time, he needs our help.

Quick turnaround completed for our client at the Social Housing Federation.
This property was classified as a void due to previous tenant damage and misuse, requiring a full internal strip-out along with a complete roof renewal.
Our team moved efficiently to bring the property back up to standard — now fully prepared and ready to welcome new tenants.
Another project delivered with safety, quality, and reliability at the forefront.

Final stretch at Kippax Health & Community Centre 🏥
Another project nearing completion, delivered within a tight programme and under challenging logistics. With extremely limited access for skips and deliveries, careful planning and coordination have been key from start to finish.
Our number one priority throughout has been the safety of all visitors and NHS staff on site maintaining a secure and well-managed working environment at all times.
Once again, targets hit and standards maintained.
A strong finish to another quality project by KAS Roofing Ltd and more importantly, the beginning of a great new working relationship with the client.

Site Update – Kippax Health Centre Re-Roof
Kippax Health Centre is well underway with a full 1,300m² re-roof currently in progress.
A project like this would be a logistical chall
enge for most especially with only one skip location available for the entire project.

It’s meant a lot of hard labour, plenty of sore shoulders and aching backs, but the team has pushed through it.

Despite horrendous weather during the first two weeks, the lads still made a huge impact on site and kept the programme moving forward.
Now into the final push this week to complete on schedule, bringing the project in at a 5-week turnaround.

✔️ 1,300m² roof renewed
✔️ Live health centre environment
✔️ Zero complaints
✔️ Another top team effort

Heritage slate re-roof completed in Harrogate.
This early 1900s Victorian property has now been fully restored using 500×250 Spanish slates, carefully installed to maintain the building’s original character.
Rainwater goods were also upgraded using the Twinplas system, giving the appearance of timber with the longevity of PVC.
A great project to be part of and another quality finish by the KAS Roofing team.

🌦️ A Tough Start to the Year for the Trades… But Spring Is Coming 🌤️

The recent weather has been horrendous for the construction industry.
Roofing, brickwork, rendering and many other trades have all taken a serious hit.

We came back after Christmas ready to go, but the first week of January saw sites cancelled due to frost, snow, and sub-zero conditions.
Since the 9th January, we’ve lost over 20 working days to rain alone.
Some people might think time off sounds nice… but here’s the reality:

👉 Self-employed workers standing down = no pay
👉 Many have been lucky to get just 2–3 working days per week
👉 Company bills don’t pause just because the weather does

For business owners, it adds real pressure. No work completed means no invoices going out, yet wasted fuel, insurances, company vehicles and overheads continue as normal.

For us at KAS Roofing, it’s nearly March and every project has been pushed back.
Not a single invoice has been issued yet this year yet, but materials were delivered on the 5th January… and as anyone in the trade knows, merchants still need paying. Those 30-day terms don’t wait for sunshine.

It’s been a tough start for many across the industry.

But… did anyone else notice something in the sky the past few days?
☀️ THE SUN.
Blue skies, birds singing, flowers starting to bloom a reminder that spring is nearly here.
And with it comes the chance for all of us in the trades to get moving again, catch up, and earn back what’s been missed.
Here’s to brighter days ahead for everyone working outdoors 👊

Nice site visit this week at our ongoing project in Harrogate 👷‍♂️🏠

This re-roof involves an early 1900s Victorian property, using CUPA 500×250 Spanish slates to stay true to the original character of the building.
Lead valleys are a must on this type of project. Proven, long lasting but also keeps the character of the building sometimes modern materials just doesn't cut it.

The project also includes upgrades to the RWG system, installing a twin-plas gutter system maintaining the traditional timber appearance while benefiting from the durability and low maintenance of modern PVC.

More updates to follow as the project progresses.

🎄 Wrapping Up 2025 on a High Note 🎄

One of our latest and final projects of the year for the local council is now complete. A fast 3-day turnaround, bringing a modern finish to a classic 1970s property.

We’d like to sincerely thank all of our customers for their continued support throughout the year. It’s been a turbulent one, with budget cuts and suspended tenders even those already awarded but as always, we keep moving forward.
