Where do we start with this one?
A recently new loft conversion and the customer had issues with cold and damp spots on the chimney breast walls
A call to the contractor
Another call to the contractor
And so on....
So we stepped in to have a look at the issue
After removing the 2 walls we found 2 issues that really shouldn't be happening and possibly should have been picked up by building control
Direct bond onto the cold, damp walls resulting in water coming through the dabs
And as you can see from the pictures, the insulation was er.... shall we say, not going to be very effective
Insulation was installed and a new stud frame built to allow air circulation behind where the bricks are, and to prevent water ingress.

Back to basics. Float and skim, with a bullnose thrown in for good measure 👌
My apprenticeship was all about 2 coat work so it was good to get back at it
Really enjoyed this one (even at my age, and it being a staircase)
