🌿 Garden makeover for a valued customer in Micklefield, Leeds 🦉

The existing decking had seen better days and had become rotten and particularly slippery when wet. We could have attempted to repair it, but from experience, the rot you can see on top is often just the tip of the iceberg. Once the decking was lifted, the supporting timbers underneath were also found to be badly rotten.

In a nutshell… the deck was a write-off! ❌⚠️

So rather than throwing good money after bad, we decided the best option was to remove the decking and start again. We freshened up the area with decorative Cotswold gravel, finished with treated timber sleepers as a neat retainer.
A lick of white masonry paint to the grubby posts really helped define the space and transformed it into a much more pleasant, relaxing and low-maintenance area.
Once it's planted up with a few carefully chosen plants, it'll be a lovely little space to sit back and enjoy. 🌿🌸🌱🏵️🪴💮🌷

Another tired area given a new lease of life! 😎⛱️☕🍹🍸👍

Something a bit fun this week! 🙃😁🧗🏻‍♀️

The customer decided to repurpose their garage area into a kids’ playroom — perfect for keeping the little ones entertained during the winter months ahead! ❄️🏠

They wanted to make use of the otherwise wasted door space, so we transformed it into a fun climbing wall. 🧗🏻‍♀️💪

It was brilliant to see the kids’ faces light up when they saw their new play area. 😁❤️

With so much time spent these days on technology, tablets and games consoles, it’s great to create a space that encourages the kids to get active, burn off some energy and, most importantly, have fun! 🙉😂

A little climbing, jumping, throwing, riding and kicking can only be a good thing! 🧗🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🏀🚴🏻‍♀️⚽🎾🏑🥎🏈

Another happy customer — and hopefully a few tired-out kids! 😂🙌

✨ Bespoke steel & composite gates – Cross Gates, Leeds 🦉

These gates were installed as a replacement for the original solid timber gates, which had unfortunately reached the end of their working life.

The new gates feature an elegant sweeping curve, finished with traditional Fleur-de-Lys railheads, giving them a timeless and distinctive appearance.

The steelwork was hot-dip galvanised before being powder coated for added durability and protection. The gates were then finished with Golden Oak woodgrain-effect composite boards, combining the appearance of timber with the low-maintenance benefits of composite.

I also added a simple padlock facility for additional security without taking away from the overall look of the gates🔐.

Another bespoke project designed and built to suit the customer’s property. 🔧🗜️🔨🛠️

If you, or anyone you know, are considering a new driveway or garden gate, feel free to get in touch to discuss your ideas🤗✏️📐📝

Bespoke Raw Steel Pergola 🌿💮🪻🌻

Here we have a bespoke raw steel pergola for a valued customer in Aberford, Leeds. 🦉🌿

Designed and built to create an elegant focal point within the customer’s new patio area, this pergola features a strong box-section steel frame with elegant curved arches, combining strength and durability with a timeless, traditional appearance.

The sweeping arches provide the perfect framework for climbing plants to mature and eventually create a beautiful, natural living canopy. 🌿🌱

The inspiration for this design came from a pergola the customer had seen on their travels to Tuscany, and it was a pleasure to bring their vision to life here in Yorkshire.

For this project, the customers specifically wanted the raw steel finish, so the pergola has been left completely uncoated. Over time, the steel will naturally develop a rusty, weathered patina, which is exactly the character and appearance they were looking for.

This finish does come with the trade-off of a shorter lifespan compared with a protected finish, but there are plenty of alternatives available, including hot-dip galvanising and powder coating, which offer excellent long-term protection.

A very rewarding project for a lovely couple. ❤️
The pergola has created a fantastic defined outdoor space that can be enjoyed for many years to come — especially if we get more summers like this one! 😎🌿🌱🪻🌻💮🌾☕🥂🍻🍹

Here we have a sliding barn style door installed for a valued customer in Giggleswick, North Yorkshire.

Made from grooved redwood using traditional braced and batten construction, it offers both strength and timeless character. As the wall was a hollow stud plasterboard construction, a support batten was installed to provide a solid fixing for the sliding track.

The door was finished with a coat of brushing wax to enhance the natural beauty, grain, and character of the timber.

I love the contrast of the black ironmongery against the warm wood, a classic combination👌

Sliding doors are a fantastic solution where space is limited, and they make a real feature in any room. 😃🪚📐🛠️

Another job with plenty of ups and downs. 😅

Here we have an outdoor sunken trampoline — not my usual challenge, but a challenge all the same. I had to really spring into action on this project! You would not believe the amount of soil that came out of this hole either! You definitely have to stay grounded when doing this type of work!🥵

I did my best to avoid this job… but somehow it just kept bouncing back to me 😁⛏️🪏

Here we have a stack of scaffold board shelves, for a valued customer in Helperby, North Yorkshire.

I love the rustic/industrial look you get from this shelving style. The thick scaffold boards supported with raw metal scaffold brackets give it a solid, workshop-style feel. The warm wood tones along with the visible grain and knot's give every shelf a unique look.

The boards were given a light sand to remove the rough sawn splinters and soften the edges. I then finished with brushing wax (rugger Brown) a favorite of mine which can be applied to both the wood and metal👌

This look provides a timeless feature which would compliment any room in the home 🛠️🪚🪛📐

IKEA flat pack fitted Wardrobes, for valued customer in Helperby, North Yorkshire.

I was very impressed with the speed and efficiency these wardrobes offered during the installation process. Packed full of features to make the assembly easy.

In this situation the wardrobes will be left open fronted.

WARNING!!! flat pack furniture is not for the faint hearted. It can cause stress, anxiety and premature death☠️ The instructions mean you will never be short of toilet paper either💩

Onto the utility room next week!👍😁🛠️
