No.1 Innovation Close at University of York – complete!

Our latest workplace project for University of York completed this week. This scheme involved the full refurbishment of three floors of an existing building: delivering approximately 15,000sqft of contemporary offices. The space will be a new home for university teams including Estates, IT Services, Accommodation, Campus & Commercial Services, Finance and Human Resources.

Work on site began in June 2025, and it is anticipated that the teams will start to occupy the building from November 2025. After successfully completing the new Professional Services Hub 2 (PS HUB 2) at Market Square in May 2025, the team have now delivered PS Hub 3. The Hub will offer a variety of spaces to suit different ways of working and provide a flexible workspace. The offices will include touchdown areas for quick tasks, bookable desks, dedicated Zoom pods and rooms, and more traditional meeting rooms.

This new Hub is part of the University’s plan to make better use of its properties. Moving some of the Professional Services teams into this building will assist in streamlining the University’s operations and ensure the creation of high-quality, effective and efficient workspaces across all locations.

It has been fantastic working once more with some familiar faces within the delivery team, including Turner & Townsend, BWB and Lodestone.

Well done again to Fusiliers Steve Bell and Kiaya Bass for all your creativity and hard work on this one.

SOYO Leeds, PBSA – First Glimpse!

News is out at last of our latest project appearing on the skyline in our hometown of Leeds...

Our long-standing client, Moda taking the lead on this PBSA scheme, and we are delighted to be using our experience as architects and interior designers working in this sector for over a decade, to help Moda realise its vision to create innovative student accommodation.

“Block D” is the penultimate phase of the SOYO masterplan and is currently coming out of the ground; with the construction works being orchestrated by Caddick Construction. We are pleased to be working alongside Caddick again, along with fellow team members including Richard Boothroyd & Associates Ltd, Tate Consulting, re-form Landscape Architecture Ltd, ID Planning and Roscoe.

The project commenced on site earlier this year and is due for completion ready for the Autumn 2027 student intake. Once complete, the scheme will deliver 291 contemporary student bed spaces, in a combination of cluster and studio apartments. Student residents will also be able to enjoy best-in-class amenity spaces, conceived by Fuse’s interior designers.

We look forward to sharing more images of the project during construction and once complete.

Yorkshire Cancer Research, Hull

We are excited to share a sneak peek of the current progress made on the new Yorkshire Cancer Research centre in Hull. This is an incredible charity dedicated to finding new cancer cures and treatments and bringing them to people in Yorkshire, and beyond.

Located in the heart of the city, this interior fit-out will provide welcoming, purpose-built spaces for Active Together, a research-backed cancer exercise treatment service funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research. The pioneering service helps people prepare for and recover from cancer treatment by providing personalised fitness support delivered by cancer specialists. Active Together is underpinned by well-established scientific evidence that shows exercise can increase survival, improve recovery from treatment and reduce the risk of cancer coming back.

This is another great collaboration with the ever-excellent Lodestone Projects Ltd. Massive thanks also to our brilliant project partners: Horizon Building Services Consultants Ltd, WeSpace Limited and Boothroyd & Associates Ltd

Last week the Fusiliers celebrated our 15th Birthday with friends from the industry at The Good Luck Club on Wellington Place.

Fabulous evening and very many thanks to the clients, consultant and contractor pals that have made our journey so enjoyable, and were there to party with us 🤩

Big thanks too to Chelsea and the team at the GLC for looking after us so well.

15 today!!

Having formed Fuse in September 2010, we are delighted to be celebrating 15 years of designing projects across the UK and beyond.

As with any business, it’s been a rollercoaster ride and 15 years later we are proud to have delivered some great schemes; from Hard Rock International Cafes throughout Europe and further afield, to market-leading PBSA schemes in the UK for Vita Group and BTR projects for Moda.

We now have an incredible portfolio of projects, including some amazing major office refurbishments, which we are looking forward to unveiling soon.

In the meantime, many thanks to the clients, consultant and contractor friends that have made this such a ride.

And biggest thanks of all go to current and former Fusiliers – you guys have been genuinely amazing and make Fuse such an exciting and fun place to work.
