At Sirius, we're proud to support projects that bring communities together, and yesterday's Morley 10K was a perfect example.

Yesterday's 10K brought together runners, volunteers, businesses and supporters for another fantastic day of community fundraising and sporting achievement.

Sirius’ charity committee was proud to provide the hi-vis jackets that helped keep the event moving safely around the town's closed-road course for all helping volunteers across the race.

Beyond the racing itself, the event raised money for five worthy local causes: Morley Running Club , M.I.N.T., Morley Grief Group, St Gemma's Hospice and Newlands Food Bank.

This year's event also featured the innovative 2 x 5K Relay, giving friends, families and colleagues the chance to take on the challenge together and making the event even more accessible to the local community, proudly managed by our very own David McNamara in his very unique metallic gold hi-viz!

Congratulations to everyone who ran, volunteered, marshalled and organised such a successful event. We're delighted that Sirius could play a small part in helping another great event bring the Morley community together.

When David Darbyshire, Secretary of Newsham & New Delaval Allotment & Garden Association, wrote to us to ask for some help, we wanted to support him. David asked if “The Sirius Group could give one excavator hour to help unlock the Beatrice Community Garden Project?”

The project is to transform a heavily overgrown 70 ft × 70 ft area in Blyth into an accessible community garden for older residents, disabled people, wheelchair and mobility-scooter users, families and people who can no longer manage a conventional allotment.

Volunteers were clearing the site by hand, but rooted bushes and established scrub were now swallowing huge amounts of time. David asked if Sirius would consider donating one working hour with a suitable excavator and qualified operator to pull the worst roots and bushes and stack them ready for volunteers to process?

Keen to help our community, Sirius arranged with David a suitable operational time slot, agreed access and safe-working arrangements and planned what tasks would benefit them the most. Sirius realised that one hour would have an impact, but 2 days would help them make massive progress and propel the project forward. Sirius has:
· Cat scanned the area and made sure no services were located
· Dug out 200m for formation level
· Loaded wagons to get materials away and remove the big stockpile
· Moved excess material out of the dig area and stockpiled
· Finished the formation dig
· Rolled out terram layer
· 20 ton of quarried type 1 tipped, spread at 200mm thick and compacted
· Site tidy and levelled off any machine marks

A very happy Client delighted with the works and progress achieved. Here’s some photos of the progress made and a nice team selfie!

Well done to David for reaching out to us and everyone involved with the Beatrice Community Garden Project. Great work Team Sirius - it’s been a pleasure to contribute to such an inspiring initiative.

The Sirius Group – Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for Andys Man Club ✅ Complete! A few photos from the day.

★ What a day for an incredible group of colleagues.

Taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, tackling Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough over 24 miles is no easy task, but add in horizontal rain for the first 2 hours and 50mph winds on all three peaks, this was a mighty challenge to test resilience.

The group powered through the wind and rain and conquered ⛰️Pen-y-ghent crawling on hands and knees. The descent brought some much-needed cloud break with the sun making an appearance. The next 15km consisted of rolling hills, mud and sheep as they made the approach to the slow and steady ascent of ⛰️Whernside. The descent is tough on the knees and a quick stop was needed to make running repairs to bandage twisted ankles and re-apply blister plasters. Finally, the Sirius team made the sharp climb up to top of ⛰️Ingleborough before completing the long descent to the finish line.

The day consisted of steep climbs, tired legs, plenty of laughs, and a few moments where we questioned our life choices… but the teamwork, encouragement and determination kept everyone going! A huge well done to the whole team for taking on the challenge, pushing beyond their limits and supporting each other every step of the way. 👏 Perfect for such a deserving charity to raise vital funds for!

🏔️Three peaks. 💚 One team. ★One unforgettable achievement.

We are very proud of you all.

The Sirius Group have recently completed the first stage of civil engineering works for the development of a 40MW solar farm in Bedfordshire. Sirius Geotechnical undertook a ground investigation for the site in order to inform the mounting system pile solution and civil engineering design for roads, compounds and foundations prepared by Sirius Environmental. Sirius Civil Engineering then delivered the civils construction package including perimeter fencing, access roads and service crossing points, compounds and laydown areas. The next stage of works will involve Sirius in the construction of transformer station foundations and cable installation works.

The Sirius Group have recently completed a comprehensive project to implement the planning permission for a 280MW BESS project in Staffordshire.

The project involved a wide range of consulting and contracting services provided by the company to the Renewables sector starting with a ground investigation undertaken by Sirius Geotechnical to inform the materials balance and engineering design for the site. This was followed by the discharge of 15 planning conditions by Sirius Planning including landscaping, screening arrangements and various construction/environmental and traffic management plans. Sirius Environmental prepared civil engineering design for access and enabling works including surface water management/drainage design requiring the approval of the Lead Local Flood Authority. Sirius Civil Engineering then undertook construction contracting works to implement the permission including the installation of tree protection barriers and the construction of the site compound/lay down area.

The project showcases the capability of The Sirius Group to help clients to seamlessly develop projects from planning approval through to civils construction.
