World Su***de Prevention Day
Su***de is one of the most serious health challenges facing the construction industry.
Construction workers face a significantly higher risk of su***de than workers in many other industries, making it more important than ever that we talk openly about mental health and look out for one another.
🔹 Construction workers are around 3 times more likely to die by su***de than the general working population.
🔹 Two construction workers a day are lost to su***de across the UK and Ireland, according to the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.
🔹 ONS research has also highlighted particularly high su***de risks among male labourers working in construction.
Behind every statistic is a person — a colleague, friend, partner, parent or family member.
At B & K Systems, we believe that creating a supportive workplace starts with conversation. Sometimes simply asking “Are you OK?” can make a difference.
We have been proud to work with the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, supporting the vital work they do across our industry and helping to raise awareness of the support available to construction workers and their families.
We have also been proud to fundraise for Andy’s Man Club, supporting their mission to provide a safe space for men to talk, listen and support one another.
These organisations do incredible work, but we all have a part to play.
This World Su***de Prevention Day, let's make mental health part of everyday conversations, remove the stigma around asking for help, and make sure our colleagues know that they don't have to struggle alone.
