Roof Refurbishment Completed During the Easter Break
B&K Systems recently completed a 150m² roof refurbishment of a teaching block on behalf of BWCAT, working in conjunction with Alumasc Roofing
The refurbishment included a full thermal and waterproofing upgrade, including:

* Installation of a new VCL
* Removal and replacement of perimeter trim details
* Removal and installation of new roof lights
* Stripping back and refurbishment of the internal gutter
New outlets and leaf guards
* Installation of two new layers of waterproofing membranes

Working closely with the client, we ensured the thermal upgrade exceeded Building Regulations requirements, resulting in the most thermally efficient roof on the campus.

The teaching block had also been experiencing ongoing leaks for several years. Following the refurbishment, the roof is now fully watertight, providing a more comfortable, energy-efficient and reliable environment for both teachers and pupils.

And the entire project was completed during the Easter Break, minimising disruption to the school.

Last month, members of our team took part in a 5-a-side football tournament organised by NEWLAY READYMIX in support of the fantastic Candlelighters Trust.

It was a brilliantly organised event, bringing businesses together to raise vital funds for an incredible charity that provides invaluable support to children with cancer and their families.

A sincere thank you to NEWLAY READYMIX for hosting such a successful tournament and for their commitment to supporting such an important cause. We were proud to be involved and are delighted to have played a small part in helping make a difference.

Well done to everyone who took part and contributed to a great day for an even greater cause. ⚽

Works are well underway at the World Duty Free fit-out at Leeds Bradford Airport for Farrans Construction

Current progress:

✔️ 900 m² floor preparation
✔️ Liquid DPM applied with a full sand scatter
✔️ Installing Tekcem - Part of Tekgroup 550 to create a durable, high-performance subfloor ready for the next stage of the project.

Great to be involved in another large commercial installation. Looking forward to sharing the finished result once the project is complete.

🔨 Project Update – Flat Roofing Division

We're pleased to be delivering a 180m² roof refurbishment and thermal upgrade at an education facility in Leeds for Wolds Architecture.

The scope of works includes:

• Upgrading thermal performance through increased insulation
• Replacement of existing rooflights
• Installation of a new Vapour Control Layer (VCL)
• New roofing underlay system
• New mineral cap sheet finish

This refurbishment will significantly improve the building's energy efficiency, weather resistance, and long-term roof performance, helping to extend the lifespan of the existing structure.

A great example of how planned refurbishment works can enhance both sustainability and building performance within the education sector.

A great way to end the week with some fantastic news!

Congratulations to Josh on being nominated for Leeds College of Building's Plastering / Interior Systems Apprentice of the Year Award.

Since joining the team, Josh has shown real commitment, hard work and dedication to developing his skills within the industry. A special mention also goes to David and the rest of the Partitions Department for their continued support and mentoring throughout his apprenticeship journey.

We're proud to invest in the development and training of young people, helping the next generation build successful careers in construction.
