WOOD MOUSE ACTIVITY IN OSSETT, WAKEFIELD

A homeowner in Ossett, Wakefield, contacted us after discovering that something had been eating dried pasta from a large bag in the kitchen.

During our detailed pest survey, we identified an entry point beneath the external foundations. This allowed rodents to access the property by following pipework and electrical wiring.

We also found gnawing damage to the sofa, which may have been caused by wood mice collecting nesting materials.

Our investigation confirmed that wood mice had entered the home and were feeding on food stored in the kitchen cupboards.

To resolve the issue, we introduced a targeted mouse-trapping programme to control the mice already inside the property. The identified ingress point, along with other potential entry points, has now been sealed to help prevent further access.

RAT CONTROL – HEADINGLEY, LEEDS

We’ve carried out a large number of rat, mouse and squirrel surveys over the past couple of weeks, with our workload increasing massively across West Yorkshire.

At this domestic property in Headingley, Leeds, we’ve started a rodent riddance programme following reports of rats in the rear garden.

As you can see, the rats have been gnawing through the bottom of the compost bin to access its contents. We’ve temporarily blocked the damaged area until our client can have it removed.

Multiple rat boxes containing traps have now been installed to target the activity. We’ll monitor the traps and assess progress during our follow-up visits.

COMMERCIAL RAT CONTROL – CASTLEFORD 🐀

An afternoon spent at one of our commercial sites in the Castleford area, where two rats had been seen entering our rat boxes.

We’ve now successfully trapped both rats as they travelled through the site. Both have been removed and the traps reset, ready for any further activity.

RAT INGRESS IDENTIFIED IN KIPPAX, LEEDS

Our client reported scratching noises & had seen a rat twice over the past three weeks.

During our survey, we found two ingress points at the adjoining property. These were allowing rats to travel from the neighbouring garden, beneath our client’s foundations & into their kitchen. Bird feeding in the neighbouring garden was also providing a food source.

We’ve now started our rodent riddance programme & provided recommendations, with the ingress points to be sealed once activity is under control.

We’ve also advised the neighbour to reduce bird feeding or switch to rodent-resistant feeders, keeping any spilled seed cleared away to help reduce what’s attracting the rats.

Rat Survey Reveals Multiple Entry Points in Morley, Leeds

This morning, we carried out a site survey at a block of flats in Morley, Leeds, following reports of ongoing rat activity despite multiple treatments by other pest control companies & the local council.

We don’t usually comment on previous work, but this case highlights the importance of carrying out a thorough survey. Previous treatments reportedly relied heavily on rodenticides (poisons), while inspections focused mainly on the inside of the building & external issues remained unresolved.

Our survey identified multiple entry points, gnawed waste bins & other building defects that could allow rats to enter to access food sources.

We’ve now passed our findings & recommendations over to the landlords where we’ll await the approval to proceed.

THINK THE WASPS HAVE DIED OFF? THINK AGAIN!

Just look at the activity around this wasp nest we attended today in Tingley, Wakefield!

Despite the weather switching between warm spells and colder days, this colony is still incredibly busy.

Judging by the activity we’re seeing, we wouldn’t be surprised if wasps remain active for another month or so, depending on the weather.

Late season wasps can become more aggressive, particularly when disturbed, so take care around active nests.
