JARGON BUSTING – Tanking and bunding

Another week so let’s kick off with some more jargon busting from the world of raised flooring!

WHAT ❓- It is a waterproof membrane and a bunding angle to enclose the space

WHERE ❓The membrane is applied in any areas where leaks could occur such as beneath tea point/kitchen areas.

HOW❓- The membrane is applied to the sub floor beneath the raised floor. And the bund angle is installed to create a barrier around the membrane

WHY ❓The area works with the leak detection system to alert that a leak has occurred, enabling the water to be shut off, the leak stopped and resolved before the water spreads to the rest of the floor.

THROWBACK THURSDAY – Peterhouse Technology Park, Cambridge

This week we are throwing it back to a recently completed project on the Peterhouse Technology Park site in Cambridge.

Our scope of works included;

• PVA Sealer to floor prior to installation of raised access floor.
• T42 Pedestal adhesion testing prior to installation of access floor
• Supply and installation of 7,500m2 of RMF Eco Range gravity lay raised floor
• Floor box cut outs to allow for electrical and power points
• Return visits to screw down raised floor over fire barriers

RMF’s team also demonstrated their extensive skill at installation where an area of the void dropped significantly by approximately 1,000mm this area was tapered into the existing level with ease.

By utilising our RMF Eco Range on the project the client was able to positively contribute to the circular economy as our RMF Eco Range is a reused raised floor panel. The RMF Eco Range also comes with an Environmental Product Declaration and is sold as FSC Recycled.

JARGON BUSTING – CAT A or CAT B? 🐱

We are kicking off a fresh week with some more Jargon busting, so what on Earth is a CAT- A or CAT-B fit out?

CAT A- is your blank canvass, this normally includes raised floor, white walls, basic electrics, ceilings and is your open empty space ready for letting

CAT B- this is your finished result with your furniture, finishes etc and ready for you to move into your new office the next day!

We have seen some new twists on the CAT-A coming in, can you name them. Gold Star to those who can!

30 Duke Street – Reuse in Action

We’re proud to have completed 30 Duke Street for Mace, delivering our RMF Eco range of fully reused raised access flooring throughout the project.

The project is a great example of how reuse can be incorporated into a commercial fit-out, helping to keep valuable materials in circulation and reduce the need for new products.

And it wasn’t just the raised flooring reuse was a key part of the wider project, with a range of reclaimed and reused materials incorporated throughout the building.

Our RMF Eco range forms an important part of our approach to supporting a more circular built environment, giving existing raised access flooring a new lease of life rather than sending it to waste.

A great project, a great team and, most importantly, reuse in action. 🌱
