Always a tricky job removing an old 6 inch liner especially when it’s concreted into the chimney pot and your on top of a roof with a hammer and chisel. But we overcame and was able fit a brand new Woodford Chadwick for Dave although the house is sold and new owners will get to enjoy it. But Dave wasn’t happy selling his house with an old stove in with no paperwork and didn’t want to just take out an indemnity policy which shows what a great character he has and was a pleasure to work for him.

I love a day out on a Sunday, this time down to Biggleswade to install a lovely pre loved Charnwood c4 for Aaron and Chloe. 31 degree temp made it a sweaty day for me but the job went to plan and another customer ready for winter.

Last weeks job was to remove an old stove and install a New ecosy panoramic stove in one day, but it didn’t go to plan, the back boards fell off once the old stove was removed and there wasn’t much holding the side ones on either, the old 6 inch liner didn’t want to come out either, stuck fast and had to be peeled like an orange to get it out that took up most of that day, so change of plan and removed boards totally and Keith and Ruth liked my suggestion of reclaimed bricks installed on the sides and the back wall rendered which was done yesterday and finally stove went In today with heat shield to protect the oak beam. Customers very happy as am I with the outcome. — in Shenstone, West Midlands, United Kingdom.

Some houses built after 1970 can tend to have a narrower chimney breast and therefore narrower chambers as was the case on this job but the Woodford Carrington 5kw multifuel at 430mm wide is perfect for this type of chamber.

6am start for a 125mile trip down to Surrey to take out an old stove inherited in a house sale and replaced with the Woodford Chadwick with its low height which was perfect for this small chamber. A long day with sunshine, rain, hail, thunder and lightning but was kept well fed with a lovely sandwich and sausage roll and lots of coffee from Sharon and Dom who even let me charge my car whilst there, saving me a half hour wait at a charging station on my way home.
