R Cunningham Roofing – Your Local Roofer

Today, despite the challenging weather we’ve been having, including heavy rain and even hail, we attended a property in Sigglesthorne to resolve some issues for the customer this afternoon.

Water was getting down the chimney due to weather exposure. Robert carried out the following work:

* Fitted two clay breathable chimney caps to unused flues (these make a real difference when the fireplaces are not in use)
* Removed an old aerial that was causing unnecessary noise in the wind
* Replaced and securely fitted dry verge caps, including installing a new section where required

All work was completed to help improve protection against the elements and prevent further issues.

Another job completed, winter ready or should we say UK summer ready! 💨 🌧️

A massive shoutout to our latest customer for looking after the team with these drinks at the end of the job! 🙏✨

The boys are absolutely buzzing: (caffeine overload 🤣) - Harry & Reece are already on the Monster Energy drinks—the customer picked up on their exact go-to drinks! 🟢⚡

Robert will definitely be enjoying those beers this weekend, especially with both Saturday and Sunday completely off to recharge! 🍺☀️
It’s a well-deserved rest before the team hits the ground running on Monday morning to start a brand new, full re-roof and Velux window installation. 🏠🔨

Wake up, check the weather app... 👀 Still half asleep, rubbing my eyes. Wow. Am I dreaming?! 😴..Nope. Turns out I was just looking at the forecast for Benidorm. 🌴✈️
Meanwhile, back in Seaton, I open the curtains to yes you know grey clouds and rain incoming from the East! 🌧️💨

🌧️ The weather is really testing us at the moment… 🌧️

We started this roofing project last week, and what was originally scheduled as a 3-day job has now stretched into Day 8 due to constant rain showers and stop-start working conditions.

Unfortunately, when the weather prevents us from working safely and efficiently, it doesn’t just affect the current project, it pushes our entire schedule further back. We’ve been unable to carry out other planned work, creating delays for both us and our valued customers.

Looking ahead, the forecast for the rest of the week is more rain. We already have scaffolding in place for a full re-roof and Velux window installation scheduled to start on Monday, but we’re now watching the weather closely to see if that project will also need to be delayed.

The recent weather has been hard work for everyone in the roofing industry and is having a huge impact on homeowners waiting for work to be completed. We appreciate all of our customers’ patience and understanding while we work around conditions that are completely out of our control.

At R Cunningham Roofing – Your Local Roofer, we’re committed to delivering quality workmanship, and that means working safely and ensuring every job is completed to the highest standard, even when the weather has other ideas.

DIARY UPDATE – 2026 BOOKINGS CLOSED

We would like to sincerely thank all of our customers for their continued support, recommendations, and trust in our services. It is greatly appreciated by our team.

Due to exceptionally high demand, our 2026 diary is now fully booked.

Recent weather conditions have also impacted our schedule, resulting in some delays. As a result, we are now prioritising all existing customers who are already booked in for 2026 to ensure all committed work is completed to the highest standard.

Please note that we are no longer accepting any new quotations, estimates, roofing works, or emergency repair call-outs for the remainder of 2026. Any new enquiries received will be held for consideration when our 2027 diary opens.

☀️ The Great Yorkshire Weather Gamble ☔

Today’s job was in Leven, carrying out a repair that took around half a day, but it’s another job off the list and another happy customer.

With the weather on our side, a Saturday was needed to get the job completed and make the most of the sunshine. ☀️🔨

Now comes the big question…

We’ve got two dorma re-roofs booked in next week, temperatures forecast around 20°C, but rain chances sitting at 80% on Monday and showers predicted for most of the week. ☔🌤️

The decision will be made over the weekend…

Do we postpone and play it safe, only for the sun to come out all week?

Or do we stick with the schedule and end up dodging rain showers every five minutes? 🌦️

If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that the weather forecast and roofing plans don’t always agree!

It’s Friday!! Another Job Completed Successfully to a High Standard with
R Cunningham Roofing – Your Local Roofer

Partial re-roof completed, including the safe removal and disconnection of solar panels.

Scaffolding was erected and widened upon request to ensure the solar panels could be safely stored on the scaffold, ready for reinstallation and reconnection once the roofing works were complete.

This project was a great example of two local companies working alongside each other to deliver a safe, smooth, and professional service from start to finish.

When it came time to reconnect the solar panels, Crafted Electrics LTD attended the property to carry out a full inspection and check all connections as part of the overall service before reconnection.

Sourcing reclaimed roof tiles is never an easy task. With so many different styles, sizes, names, and colours, finding the correct match can take time and often involves a lot of travelling.

We are currently undertaking a partial re-roof, where matching the existing tiles is essential. After initially sourcing what we believed to be enough for the job, it quickly became clear once work began that additional tiles would be required.

Following numerous telephone calls this morning an unsuccessful trip to West Hull this afternoon, we then found that the tiles we had gone to collect were the wrong type within the system, meaning further calls were needed to continue the search.

We have now tracked down a potential match in York, so we are continuing the search and heading there next to secure the correct tiles and keep the project moving forward.

Wish us luck—it’s going to be a late finish today!

Happy Monday! Back to work after a well-earned Sunday off.

Today’s project is a partial re-roof, starting with the careful removal of the solar panels before roof repairs begin. The panels will be safely reinstalled once the work is complete.

Scaffolding is up, the team is ready, and now we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the weather as rain is forecast for later this afternoon, but we’re hoping it passes us by! 🌦️🔨
