As most of you who know who me know, I’ve been off work quiet a while due to my son, Yonah, having a stroke back in October which lead to him been within hours of losing his life. Luckily , we all reacted as fast as we possibly could and every department within the NHS played there part amazingly, from them turning up in the ambulance, to putting him through for a quick scan, getting him to LGI then the amazing surgeons performing how the did. Then to the help we had back home from everyone, we possibly couldn’t thank you all enough.
We’ve been back in and out of hospital quiet a lot recently and it does get quiet difficult at times as it’s quiet triggering remembering all he went/going through but all the appointments have been nothing but good news so far. He’s got a long way to go still but made such good progress. It’s still hard to just even look at him at times but so proud of him for fighting to where he’s got and some how he’s managed to get 2/3 girlfriends in the process of all this 😂
It’s obviously been hard on us all and today my eldest son ,Cassius, gets his GCSE results, which I imagine are going to reflect all the time he had off but f**k it, it’s not the end of the world and I’m sure he’ll fight to make the ground up too.I feel he often feels he’s be forgotten about at times with us barely seeing him in the first 2 months of Yonahs stroke then everything that followed putting yonah back together but he’s showed such amazing maturity and strength through out it all. We’re massively proud of him too.
Both kids have been lucky to have such an amazing mother who’s been able to nurture them, pick them up when they’re down and be there for them for whatever they needed, all the time whilst keeping things together for her self. Can only imagine what it’s like for a mother who’s carried there babies for 9 months, done everything in life possible for them to then have to watch one of your babies slip away right before your eyes. I know as a son what my mam means to me and we me and my brothers mean to her. Charlottes always been an amazing woman since the day I met her to then become the best mother any kids could ask for. I used to call her the Mona Lisa (not because she’s a moaning b*) because there was nothing else like her in the world. I’d say universe now though!
Which brings me on to work. I hated going out having to leave them all and come to work and often felt guilty for doing so, although I get I had to. Looking back now I think I shouldn’t have been nowhere near a roof with my mind been elsewhere as all I wanted to do was be home with them, together. If I’m been totally honest my work may have suffered because of it with my mind been elsewhere or me physically not been there as had to nip off at times to check on the kids or get something that was needed, so wasn’t always able to oversee everything as I usually would.
Now everything seems to be going in the right direction with yonah and the stronger and more confident he’s got, the stronger and more confident I’ve got to be back out there and start to book things in again as I didn’t want to book things in that let people down if there was an emergency or problem with yonah. So this is why my availability has been quite good lately and been able to get jobs quoted and completed in good time.
We’ve got one big appointment left the end of September which is a heart scan to see if the leak back in to his heart chamber as gone ,then that would be the last weight off our minds, although life has changed forever and he’ll continue to have MRI’s most his life.
If the leak hasn’t gone from his heart ,he can have mine cos shiiiiit!!!! 😅
Again, I thank all my friends and family for what they did for us and hope I can some how return the favour one day ❤️
