Exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of ECI technicians!

We have secured a two-week ECI Takeover of the Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery at the Science Museum, provisionally scheduled for June and July 2027.

Designed for young people aged 11–16, the gallery gives visitors hands-on experiences that showcase the wide range of technician careers that keep industries moving.

Now, we have the opportunity to put engineering construction Industry technician careers centre stage.

We have secured a two-week “ECI takeover” of the gallery, provisionally scheduled for 22–25 June and 29–30 June to 1–2 July 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity for ECI employers and Scholarship providers to come together and showcase technician careers, career pathways, and the opportunities available across the sector.

Planning starts now, and we'd love to hear from organisations interested in joining the working group.

Our e-learning platform has surpassed ÂŁ5 million in value-add to the engineering construction industry.

The Learning Experience Platform (LXP) was launched in January 2023 to provide in-scope ECITB employers within the ECI more than 8,500 free online courses.

Since then, more than 140,000 courses have been completed on the LXP by workers across 195 ECI employers.

In delivering ÂŁ5 million in value-add to industry, this has enabled employers to use funds from the levy grant system on other training for their workforce that they would have previously spent on e-learning.

“We’ve found the LXP really useful and beneficial, especially to get new entrants trained up and for developing existing staff. The flexibility, quick accessibility and fact we can do the training when we want really helps as we’re not having to find external training. It’s easy to use, convenient and saves money,”

said Mike Preston, Director at project consultancy The Herne Group, which has benefited from the LXP.

ECITB Director of Regional Operations, Matt Knights, and Chair of the Project Management Steering Group (PMSG), Robert Crofts, thanked both Ally Smith and Calum Sutherland for their significant input to the work of the PMSG for many, many years and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Matt said: “Without their goodwill and work in this time the PMSG would not be where it is today - continuing to deliver meaningful learning and development interventions across project professions.”

The PMSG was formed in 2014 to drive and positively influence the skills and competence development for project controls, project management and project leadership.

The group is actively looking to recruit new members who are highly experienced in the area of project controls.
