Bathroom Repaint in Newcastle —
Perma-White Ceiling and Lick Pink 04 Walls
This week North & Sons NE completed a full bathroom repaint, specified from the ceiling down for a room that has to cope with steam, condensation and daily cleaning.
The ceiling was coated in Zinsser Perma-White, a self-priming acrylic finish with built-in mould and mildew resistance. It's the standard choice for bathroom ceilings, where ordinary emulsion tends to flake, discolour or develop black spotting within a couple of years.
Walls were finished in Zinsser AllClean, tinted to Lick Pink 04. AllClean is a highly durable scrubbable matt that resists stains, withstands moisture and resists mould and mildew growth — and it carries the top Class 1 wet scrub resistance rating under ISO 11998. Crucially it dries to a genuinely flat matt, so there's no sheen to flash or picture-frame across the walls. Tinting it to a designer shade gives the client the exact colour they wanted with none of the durability trade-off you get from a standard matt emulsion.
Woodwork was prepared with an acrylic primer and finished in oil-based eggshell. Oil eggshell still gives the hardest, most washable film on bathroom joinery — skirtings, architraves and window boards take knocks and cleaning products, and water-based alternatives don't hold up the same way over time.
Every surface was prepared properly before a drop of paint went on: filling, sanding, caulking and degreasing. In a bathroom, preparation is what separates a finish that lasts a decade from one that fails in eighteen months.
