COMMERCIAL FLEET MECHANIC REQUIRED

S McConnell & Sons Ltd seeks a skilled mechanic for our commercial fleet.

Responsibilities
• Inspect, service and repair a diverse range of commercial vehicles, trailers and goods handling equipment (e.g. forklift trucks, telehandlers etc.) to ensure they are road worthy and legally compliant.
• Prepare vehicles for PSV/MOT in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
• Apply appropriate diagnostic techniques to determine the cause(s) of defects in vehicles, plant, components and systems, including use of diagnostic computer.
• Report the findings and making recommendations to management.
• Update the vehicles' service history on the company computer system.
• Liaise with colleagues and management.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment within the workshop and follow all company health and safety procedures and use equipment and tools safely.
• Other duties as required.

Essential Criteria
• Proven experience in a similar role / in a commercial vehicle garage
• Full driving licence.
• Ability to identify faults and determine effective repairs.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Awareness of health and safety standards.

Desirable Criteria
• Welding experience.
• Your own basic hand tools.

This role involves drawing, programming and manufacturing complex stone profiles for projects across the UK, Ireland and beyond. We are open to experienced operators or trainees with the right attitude.

• Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office)

• Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable:

Health & Safety Manager (Part-Time)

Main responsibilities:
✓ Promote and ensure health & safety compliance and awareness
✓ Review, implement and monitor the Company’s health and safety policies, procedures and processes and maintain legislative updates ensuring timely implementation
✓ Ensure good practice is observed throughout the Company in respect of health and safety matters
✓ Advise and assist the Company Directors and other relevant personnel in planning, organising, controlling and maintaining a safe, healthy and quality focused work environment
✓ Draft all necessary risk assessments and ensure that the risk assessments are completed for all relevant risks
✓ Ensure all employees receive a comprehensive health and safety induction
