🌲☀️ Western Red Cedar Crown Lift Completed ☀️🌲

The team at vanguard tree surgery recently completed a crown lift on a row of large Western Red Cedar 🌿🏡

By carefully removing the lower limbs, we were able to improve clearance, allow far more natural light into the garden, and create a much more open feel, all while maintaining the health and natural appearance of the trees 🌳👌

🌳🍃 This tree had previously been lifted and heavily cutback to maintain clearance from nearby power lines, which increased wind loading on the remaining canopy.

Our latest reduction work was carried out to rebalance the crown, reduce sail area, and help improve the tree’s long-term stability and resilience against strong winds 💨

🌿🚫 Bird Nesting Season 🚫🌿

Every year we see the same comments…

“Thats illegal because of nesting season?” ❌

Let’s set the record straight 👇

👉 It is NOT illegal to cut, prune, or remove trees during bird nesting season.

What is illegal under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 is:

❗ Intentionally damaging or destroying an active nest at ANY time of the year (one that’s being used or built)

That’s a big difference.

🌳 As professional arborists, we:

✔ Carry out thorough checks before starting work
✔ Assess trees for nesting activity
✔ Adjust or postpone work if active nests are found
✔ Work responsibly within the law at all times

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misinformation spread online and by word of mouth. Not all tree work stops for “nesting season” it’s about how the work is done.
