The next round of Capital Grants opens in July, with £225 million available to support farmers, land managers and rural businesses to deliver environmental improvements across England.

We are pleased to share that we have secured planning permission for 24,000 sq ft of new B2/B8 floorspace at Upper Battlefield, Shrewsbury, on behalf of our clients at Vulcan.

This approval represents a significant achievement for our team, given the site’s sensitive location within the setting of the Registered Battlefield, the range of technical considerations involved and the site’s position outside the Shrewsbury Development Boundary.

This outcome highlights the strength of our multidisciplinary approach. Congratulations to Alex Bruce for leading the planning consultancy and to Callum Bebb and Phoebe Farrell for their highways and heritage expertise, with architectural support from Anjali Biju contributing to the successful design response.

🌳Early Preparation Essential for SFI26 Window 1 - We can Help!🌳

There will be 2 application windows for SFI26. Window 1 which will be open from 1 June 2026 to small farms (up to 50 hectares) and farms without an existing ELM revenue agreement and Window 2 from September 2026 for all farmers and land managers.

The key to a successful application is early preparation, if you think you are eligible for Window 1, it is essential that:

• Eligibility is checked.
• Land details, contact details and permissions are correct
• Digital maps show the correct information for the land parcels to be included in the application.

Any updates to the above must be made BEFORE 1 June. Defra will publish the full SFI26 scheme information for all applicants on the SFI26 GOV.UK page before 1 June.

North Northamptonshire Council has today opened a formal consultation on its emerging Local Plan.

The consultation seeks public views on its initial Scoping Document which will form the basis for the new policy document, as well as carrying out a new Call for Sites exercise. The consultation runs until Wednesday 1st July 2026.

The Emerging Local Plan aims to allocate 11,500 to 15,000 more homes across the plan period to 2045. This consultation therefore provides an excellent opportunity for landowners in the region to put their sites forward for consideration.
