The clocks go back this Sunday (25/10/26) which means the darker evenings are on their way.

It’s a good time to spend 10 minutes checking that the security around your home is doing what it should.
Here are 5 simple things worth checking:

Give your alarm a quick testοΏ½Make sure doors, windows and movement detectors are responding as expected. If it’s been a while since your system was serviced, now is a good time to get it checked properly.

Double check your CCTV footage after darkοΏ½Don’t just check the live picture. Look back at some recorded footage from an evening and make sure your cameras are recording clearly, particularly around entrances, driveways, gates and side access.

Check your timesοΏ½As the evenings draw in, lighting schedules and motion lights that worked perfectly through the summer may now be coming on too late. After the clocks go back, make sure your devices are displaying the correct time.

Walk around outside after darkοΏ½Check security lights, PIRs and darker areas around the property. A quick clean of a camera lens or light fitting can sometimes make a surprising difference.

Have a quick access tidy-upοΏ½Old alarm codes, app users, key fobs or shared access that are no longer needed? It’s worth removing them.

A few simple checks now can give you a little more peace of mind as we head into the darker months.
And if you’d rather have someone take a proper look, Incognito Systems are always happy to help.

πŸ”₯ The wrong fire detection system can mean inadequate coverage, repeated false alarms, or a setup that fails to meet regulations.

For offices, addressable fire detection systems identify the exact location of any activation, allowing for a faster, more informed response. At Incognito Systems, we design and install fire detection systems for commercial premises to BS5839 standards, backed by FireQual accreditation.

A New Chapter for Incognito Systems

Over the past 12 months, I've been quietly investing in the future of Incognito Systems.
Many of our clients already trust us to maintain and support their CCTV, intruder alarm and security systems. As part of my long-term vision, we're expanding into Fire Detection & Alarm systems, allowing us to offer a more complete life safety and security service.

This hasn't been a decision I've taken lightly.
I've invested in training, specialist test equipment, manufacturer partnerships and demonstration systems to ensure we build our fire division properly and sustainably.

The most satisfying part for me isn't the equipment or the qualifications.
It's seeing my team buy into the vision and helping shape the next chapter of Incognito Systems.

We've recently completed our first fire alarm system takeover, have additional projects already underway, and are continuing to develop our team's knowledge and qualifications.

We're also progressing towards recognised industry accreditations, including SSAIB and BAFE, as part of our commitment to delivering the highest standards of service and compliance. We are now members of the FIA too.

For me, this isn't about adding another service line.
It's about providing our clients with a trusted partner who understands their sites, their people and their operational needs across both security and life safety systems.

Thank you to our clients, suppliers and team members who have supported me on this journey so far.

I’m excited about what comes next.

Watch this space.

πŸ“¦ Warehouse theft doesn't always come from outside.

Internal theft and stock discrepancies are a significant issue, and standard perimeter cameras won't catch what's happening inside. A well-designed CCTV system covers loading bays, storage areas, and operational zones, providing clear footage that gives you a complete picture of what happens on site around the clock.

When did you last check your home security system was still up to the job? πŸ”

Cameras shift, sensors develop faults, and batteries lose charge. Without regular checks, small issues can quietly undermine the protection you're relying on. A professional maintenance visit can identify problems, and keep everything performing as it should.

πŸ”₯ A fire alarm system isn't optional for your business, it's a legal requirement.

The consequences of non-compliance go well beyond a fine; inadequate fire safety can affect your insurance, your liability, and your ability to keep operating. At Incognito Systems, we design, install, and maintain fire alarm systems for commercial premises across Northamptonshire, handling the technical and compliance side so you don't have to.
