This week, we're delighted to welcome Isla, a Year 12 student, to the DAMAX team for her work experience placement.

Over the course of the week, Isla will be working alongside our Architectural Design Team, gaining first-hand experience of the design process and learning more about what goes into creating innovative and practical building solutions.

We're looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join the DAMAX team.

If you have strong Xero and payroll experience and are looking for a flexible role of approximately 8 hours per week, we'd love to hear from you.

📍 Office-based in Kettering
🕒 1 day per week (or equivalent hours by agreement)

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a friendly, growing business where you'll play an important role in keeping our finances running smoothly.

🏗️ What Is an RSJ (Steel Beam) and Why Might You Need One?

If you're planning an extension, loft conversion, open-plan living space, or removing an internal wall, you've probably heard the term "RSJ" mentioned.

RSJ stands for Rolled Steel Joist – a structural steel beam designed to safely support loads when a load-bearing wall is removed or a new opening is created.

A steel beam helps:

✅ Support the weight above
✅ Transfer loads safely to supporting walls or foundations
✅ Create larger open-plan spaces
✅ Maintain the structural integrity of your home

It's important to remember:

⚠️ Not all walls can be removed without support
⚠️ Steel beams should always be designed by a structural engineer
⚠️ Building Control approval is usually required
⚠️ Incorrect installation can lead to serious structural issues
