Big tile Tuesday. After a week of prepping the floor, levelling compound then ditra mat 25, its time to start laying out some tiles and getting it all square before laying them

A few before and after pics of my kitchen re design. Its taken a while, what with being ill and then covid-19 shutting everything down, but finally the kitchen and dining room are finished. It has been an amazing experience to create a fantastic kitchen space just how I wanted it. With help, of course, from Craig and the crew at Rothwell Tiles and Bathrooms... now for the next project

Its good to learn something new and try out new skills. A previous client of mine enquired if I did Parquet floors as well as normal tiles, to which I said I could. The job entailed levelling the existing screed floor prior to setting out. The client wanted a traditional herringbone patterned floor, so ensuring the crown line was centred and straight was key. From there it was a case of filling in row by row. I think you'll agree that results are spectacular. A wonderful, hard wearing, low maintenance floor with the tactile feeling that only wood can bring. A traditional style that is still very much in vogue

A rather satisfying job completed recently that involved a fair amount of preparation prior to laying the tiles. The clients wanted to have the feel of a single floor running from one room to the next. Unfortunately the kitchen floor was not the same height as the existing conservatory floor.

A day of levelling enabled the clients to get that single floor look, with no height differences, in a fantastic wood effect tile.
