The Building Safety Levy is now in force across England.

The new levy introduces an additional cost and administrative requirement for qualifying residential developments.

Although façade contractors will not normally pay the levy directly, the commercial impact may still affect design decisions, specifications, procurement programmes and package budgets.

When projects come under greater financial pressure, value engineering must be properly reviewed. Reducing cost should never create additional problems with performance, compliance, quality or installation.

Material prices are increasing, but the real risk to a façade tender often comes from what happens after the price is submitted.

The latest UK Government figures show construction material prices increased by 6.4% in the year to August 2026. However, every façade material has its own price, lead time and quotation-validity period.

If design approval takes longer than expected, a supplier’s price may expire before the materials can be ordered. This can affect aluminium systems, glass, cladding, steelwork, insulation, fixings and other specialist components.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Sparrow Construction has made the decision to end its sponsorship partnership with Kettering Town Football Club with immediate effect.

This is a commercial decision made in light of the current circumstances.

We will not be making any further public comment at this time.
