The Family Business

In January 1925 Alexander Robert Cruickshank started his apprenticeship with Alexander Smart, Monumental Sculptor, Station Road, Keith. He remained there until he was called for duty in the Second World War.

On his return he bought the yard from Alexander Smart and renamed it A R Cruickshank Monumental Sculptor. Joined by his son Gordon in 1964, the business grew over the coming years supplying and erecting memorials much further afield than Keith itself.

In 1993 the business was moved to its present location at 107-109 Moss Street, Keith. In 2005 Gordon's son, Jamie joined the business as Monumental Mason / Letter Cutter, 80 years after his great grandfather started his. We are proud to be in our third generation of Monumental Sculptors.
