Darts is a funny old game sometimes.
And, by sometimes, I mean all the time.
Be it players, fans, opinions β or generally anything about anything, darts always has more plotlines ongoing than Downton Abbey.
Although, that crossover might convince me to willingly tune in to that directionless dreck...
The story to many on Monday night, was that Cameron Menzies shocked the world by consigning Luke Humphries to his second consecutive first round exit at the World Matchplay.
But to some, like myself, and others privileged to spend time with the great man, it was no shock whatsoever.
Simply, it was the culmination of a ton of hard work from a ridiculously talented individual.
You could see what it meant to him as he pinned that bull for the 170 to win for the first time at the Winter Gardens - and tonight he looks to double up on it and reach a maiden Matchplay Quarter-Final.
He faces fellow Unicorn thrower Ross Smith, who himself impressed in the first round, averaging a smidge shy of the 100 mark en route to sending home debutant Kevin Doets.
Their H2H is fairly even, but tips the way of the Englishman this year. Cammy won both their meetings in 2025, but Smudger has won all three encounters so far in 2026.
The meeting kicks off the evening session tonight, getting underway at approximately 19:20 BST, on Sky Sports for UK viewers, and via PDC Partners around the world.
So, wish our Muirkirk Maestro all the best as he looks to erase Smudger from the 2026 Matchplay.
