It’s really crazy looking back at how far I’ve come, when I finished my first workshop I never thought I’d get it any better.

But now being in my new workshop I can’t believe how far I’ve come. The next chapter is on the horizon and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on!

I love wood working and although this is just a passionate hobby of mine, I cant wait to see where it will lead me! 🪵🪚

This might be one of my favourite workshop storage upgrades 🔩

I built this slide-out drawer to house my Milwaukee PACKOUT, which is packed full of all my screws and fixings. It keeps everything together, easy to access and, most importantly, gets it off the workbench!

To stop the PACKOUT moving around when I’m opening and closing the drawer, I’ve used StealthMounts mounts to lock it securely in place. 🔒

Simple, practical storage that makes a big difference to how organised my workshop is!

There’s something very satisfying about new blades in the workshop 🔥🪚

I was recently sent some saw blades from and I’ve been really impressed with the quality. They feel like a seriously good option, especially when you consider the price point 💰

And let’s be honest… the black and red colourway is a pretty perfect match for my workshop! 🖤❤️

Always good finding tools and accessories that not only perform well, but look right at home in the workshop too.

Three tape measures might seem excessive… but if you’ve ever done any woodworking, you’ll understand why 😂

I’ve made this little French cleat holder to keep my three tape measures together and, hopefully, stop me leaving them in completely random places around the workshop! 🤦‍♂️

The silver Stanley FatMax is definitely my favourite of the three though — it just feels like the classic tape measure you can’t go wrong with.

I’m using some wall clips on the holder, which make a really simple and secure way of keeping the tapes exactly where they should be.

Now I just need to remember to actually put them back… 😂🔨

One of the best things I’ve added to my workbenches is built-in dust collection! 🔨🧹

My mitre saw is connected directly to a shop vac with power take-off, so whenever the saw runs, the dust extraction kicks in automatically.

It makes a HUGE difference to keeping the workshop clean and tidy, and means I’m not constantly cleaning up piles of sawdust after every job! 👌

Simple setup, but definitely one of those workshop upgrades that makes life so much easier. 🪵

A little re-introduction 👋

If you’re new around here, I thought it was probably time to properly introduce myself and the workshop!

I’m Alex — a full-time photographer and videographer, but outside of work, woodworking, tools and DIY have become a huge passion of mine. 🔨

I’m completely self-taught and, honestly, I’ve learnt pretty much everything I know from online — including how to build this workshop from the ground up! I originally started out doing DIY jobs around the house, which quickly turned into an excuse to buy more and more tools. 😂

My first proper tool was an Erbauer track saw, and from there things escalated pretty quickly…

Since then I’ve made everything from chopping boards and shelving units to built-in cupboards and a LOT of garden furniture. The workshop has also given me the space to experiment, learn new skills and, most importantly, make plenty of mistakes along the way.

Looking ahead, I’d love to get more into making custom furniture pieces and taking on bigger DIY projects, while continuing to improve the workshop and my skills along the way.

I’ve already got my next few projects planned… 👀

Ever wish you had a proper cutting table for breaking down sheet material? 👀

These fold-up arms on my workbench are one of those simple workshop upgrades that I use all the time. When I need to break down a sheet with my track saw, I just fold them out and I’ve got a large, supported cutting area in seconds. 🔨

Then when I’m done, they fold neatly back out of the way.

Simple, cheap and genuinely useful — exactly the kind of workshop upgrade I love! 👌
