It’s now coming up to that time of year again, when people will get there sprayers ready for operation. It always happens when you get a lot more blockages in your nozzle because the tubes have dried out, to make this problem less annoying I would suggest that people use my free-flow system, I know it will look very simple to people but be assured I have tested it with no significant problems at all, it is possible to do the same job with electronics but I am not going to put any information on this because it needs to be properly tested independently as this has a different effect on the nozzle droplet, it will be very expensive so it is better to go simple to achieve your accuracy.

I’ve noticed a bit more that people are ploughing rather than direct drilling, which is probably because it helps to reduce black grass, I realise that black grass is very difficult to control, I’ve found over the years with the chemicals that you are allowed to use, the best way I feel is with a normal flat fan of a small size to ensure that you get the smallest droplet size to stick to the weeds, unfortunately by using a small nozzle you tend to get more blockage, you can reduce this by using Jet filters, they will catch the big lumps and they also reduce your flow which in turn affect the application of your chemicals. I suggest people use with their flat fans is my Free-Flow system which is a very simple device to maintain the flow of chemical through your nozzle, it simply allows the big lumps to be trapped on the side eventually they get mixed up enough so that the big lumps can flow through the nozzle significantly reducing the blockage. You can see on my website www.forsprayerrepair.co.uk which shows my short air induction nozzle, if you are concerned with drift control.

If you’re looking to save money on your chemical expenses or just require a quality, dependable specialist to look after your crop spraying requirements you need look no further.

I have done many Callibrations over the years and found the biggest problem is with Jet Filters, simply because as they block they reduce the flow which obviously will reduce the application, by doing the Free-Flow system, it allows the flow to be maintained and reduces the blockages to ensure you get the correct application in an affordable manner.

I would like to let everyone know that I am no longer allowed to perform NSTS testing.

I have been assessed by them twice, on both occasions the assessment was not complete by the assessor and they decided to do an investigation which was conducted by the NSTS manager, which I feel is unsuitable and should be conducted by an impartial 3rd party.

What you need to realise is that the NSTS is controlled by the AEA and will only act in their own interest. When I try to make a machine safe, some of the regulations what they want me to do will allow a machine to become unsafe and dangerous. What I've always tried to do, is make machines simple and safe as I feel you would be able to see from the products I have designed myself.

I will of course still be focusing on my own products and working on repairs/callouts to keep my customers machinery at the highest safety standards.

Comparing a standard Jet Filter to my 'Flow-Free' spraying on the same line for 15 minutes.

On the calibration you will be able to see there is a large difference. One that was tested with a jet filter is lower and the one with the Free-Flow system is higher. As a jet filter blocks, it pushes the liquid to its easiest route and gives you a false reading. They were both reading exactly the same level at the beginning of the test as you can see and in 15 minutes this is quite a difference which is why I don’t like Jet Filters!

It's time to address the elephant in the room!

The number 1 problem which all farmers and sprayer operators have is blocked nozzles.

When you talk to nozzle manufacturers they suggest Jet Filters. Although Jet Filters work to a certain degree, they will block and reduce your flow very quickly and not a good cure.

I tested four standard Jet Filters and all of them suffered blockages. The same tests on my Flow-Free device had zero blocks. I removed my Flow-Free there was no debris caught in this which surprised me as I was testing it with a smaller jet than I intended.

I tested the same Flow-Free I was using on the previous test but with a bigger nozzle. It demonstrates that the same device works with all sizes of nozzles. As long as you can fit a Jet Filter in your nozzle body you will be able to use a Flow-Free device.

If you wanted to order email me your details and I will supply them to you direct – [email protected]

If you like cleaning nozzles carry on as you are, remember there is a solution!
