Little felt overlay job in Kersey,Suffolk🌳

The client was renovating the property internally, after a site visit I advised to the client that the old roof was reaching its end of life with evidence of joints becoming weaker as the roof wasn’t leaking and was already insulated from below sufficiently so to prevent any issues in the future and as the deck was sound, we installed a two-layer torch on felt overlay.

The client will still benefit from a new materials warranty and safe in the knowledge that the roof won’t have any issues in the near future after they have finished renovating the inside👌

This client was doing some renovations on some cottages on the land and this outbuilding - A former pottery- Needed some care and attention as the client wanted to make use of the space in the future.

We came in to strip off the existing Suffolk Pantiles, Remove old battens and make some minor timber repairs. Installing new felt eaves protection, a high quality breathable membrane and treated timber battens.

To finish off we replaced the existing decayed bargeboards and capping with new timbers and the guttering with a UPVC Cast iron effect alternative to remain in keeping with the age of the building.

Grade II outbuilding needed some attention after years of tree growth had damaged the roof and left it in a poor state.

All off and the necessary timber repairs made, Re-felted and Battened out using treated battens and Ondutiss Air 140 Breathable Membrane.

Tiled in all back in with ridges and verges pointed using Non- Hydraulic Lime Mortar.

This customer had 2 roofers come in previously and done two full strip offs and GRP coverings both of which failed and ultimately led to water ingress inside there summer room.

After inspection, We found incorrectly installed trims and insufficient coating of the GRP with matting exposed and not bonded correctly so we stripped back to joists again and found all the perimeter boards rotten.

We installed new OSB3 Boards and a Two layer felt system which has proven to last for many decades time and time again, There has since been no leaks and the customer is over the moon with the finish!
